City of Laguna Beach, CA
Dear Councilmembers:
I am writing to express my complete support for appointing Councilmembers Rounaghi and Kempf to a Fiscal Sustainability and Structural Efficiency Ad Hoc Committee to work with the City Manager and staff in evaluating potential cost reduction strategies and operational efficiencies in connection with the upcoming budget. This effort will be critical as the City charts its course for the near future and beyond.
I would like to suggest that the Council consider adding a few qualified residents as part of the Committee. The City has many residents with relevant knowledge and skills in the Finance and Accounting fields that I'm sure would be willing to participate. Not only could subject matter specialists add valuable expertise to the Committee, the addition of residents would send a positive message to the Community.
For the record, and to paraphrase Lyndon Baines Johnson (for those who don't remember, he was our 36th President) I do not seek, and will not accept, appointment to this Committee. But I would be happy to offer suggestions if you'd like.
With Regards,
Mary Locatelli
