Attached are the results of the analysis performed on a soil sample that was collected by the client from the abovementioned project site and received by our laboratory on April 1, 2026. The sample was analyzed for nutrient levels and troubleshooting purposes. It was noted that an established Eucalyptus polyanthemos, which recently fell over, is the primary concern
Analytical Results and Comments
In terms of fertility, nitrogen is very low. Sulfate is well supplied. Iron and manganese are low while copper is below optimum. The remaining nutrients are well supplied.
Salinity (ECe) is high, as indicated by the 6.7 dS/m reading. The greatest contributor to salinity is the abundance of soluble sodium, which measures 41.7 meq/L. Soluble calcium, magnesium, and sulfate are also major contributors to salinity but are not as hazardous as other salts such as sodium.
The sodium present is poorly balanced by soluble calcium and magnesium with regard to soil structure and water infiltration as indicated by the high sodium adsorption ratio value (SAR) of 9.87. Boron is safe and sufficient for plant nutrition.
The reaction of the sample is slightly alkaline with a pH of 7.2. Free lime is favorably low. These are within the range preferred by most plants, including Eucalyptus polyanthemos Recommendations
The soluble salts detected in this sample exceed the tolerance threshold for many landscape plants and is likely a factor in the decline of the tree. Additional abiotic factors that may impact plant performance include cultural and environmental conditions such as soil compaction and moisture extremes, as well as biotic factors, including plant pathogens and/or insect activity.
Plant pathology testing is currently in progress to determine whether plant pathogens are contributing to the observed symptoms. The results of this diagnostic testing will be reported separately upon completion. 132

If additional plant material is planned for the site, it is advised to bring salinity and sodium down in the root zone via thorough irrigations with good quality water. Additional plants should be tolerant to elevated sodium and salinity. In order to reduce these values in the root zone, several thorough irrigations low in salts should be applied to accomplish some leaching. We estimate that a total of 3.5 inches of good quality water needs to move through the soil profile to reduce the salinity to a more favorable range of 3.5 dS/m in the surface 12 inches. A high level of gypsum (calcium sulfate) is already present in the soil, so additional gypsum should not be applied at this time. Drainage must be sufficient for leaching to be effective. Water should be applied in such a manner as to ensure uniform water movement into the soil and to limit runoff. The soil should be allowed to dry slightly between irrigations to avoid creating anaerobic soil conditions and/or an environment that favors disease. The source of salinity should be identified and reduced. Consider submitting a water sample for agricultural suitability.
