PRESENTATION
3 SUBJECT: PROCLAMATION FOR NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council:

1. Approve the Proclamation recognizing the week of May 17-23, 2026, as National Public Works Week in the City of Laguna Beach.

SUMMARY OF THE MATTER
The American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week since 1960 to honor public works professionals and educate the public on the importance of public works in the community. Annually, APWA selects a theme to highlight the public works profession. The designated theme for the 66th National Public Works Week is “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community”. The theme highlights how public works professionals are driven by a commitment to serve their communities, and how that community support and empowers them to deliver their best work every day.

Staff recommends the City Council proclaim the week of May 17-23,2026, as National Public Works Week in the City of Laguna Beach (Attachment 1) to recognize the hard work, commitment, and contributions that Laguna Beach’s public works professionals provide to the community
