Recap of Minutes
PRESENT: Commissioners: Donna Ballard, Michael Ervin, Joan Gladstone, Pat Kollenda, Adam Schwerner, Carl Smith, Nicole Strathman. Absent: Sindi Schwartz COUNCIL: Sue Kempf.
STAFF: Siân Poeschl, Cultural Arts Manager, Michael McGregor, Arts Program Coordinator. Absent: Karen Wood, Public Art Coordinator. 1) Michael Ervin called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
A) Temporary Public Art Installation – Main Beach and Heisler Parks (Laguna Art Museum) – Commissioners Smith and Strathman recused themselves from the discussion.
Staff Poeschl provided an overview of the project and introduced Victoria Gerard, Deputy Director, Laguna Art Museum and artist Kim Manfredi who presented the proposed temporary public art installation. Mrs. Gerard noted planned community engagements.
Staff Poeschl noted concern that the site for proposed installation at the Main Beach boardwalk area did not have viable public access. Mrs. Gerard noted there were no engagements planned for site. A motion was made to approve the temporary installations at Main Beach and Heisler Parks, titled “A Flag Walk for Our Future” by artist Kim Manfredi to be installed November 5 through November 9, 2026. Motion: Kollenda.
