SUMMARY OF THE MATTER
The Laguna Beach Emergency & Disaster Preparedness Committee (EDPC) is a volunteer advisory committee dedicated to promoting emergency preparedness and community resilience throughout Laguna Beach. Established to help residents, businesses, and visitors prepare for natural and human-caused emergencies, the Committee works closely with City staff, public safety agencies, and community organizations to educate the public on disaster readiness.
The Committee encourages individuals and neighborhoods to develop emergency plans, assemble disaster supply kits, stay informed during emergencies, and participate in preparedness programs such as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Through public outreach, educational workshops, preparedness fairs, and community events, the EDPC helps foster a culture of readiness and self-reliance.
For 15 years, the Committee has served as a valuable partner in strengthening Laguna Beach's ability to respond to emergencies, including wildfires, earthquakes, severe storms, and other disasters. Their dedication has helped make the community safer, more informed, and better prepared to respond and recover when emergencies occur.
