Subject: Tuesday, Feb 4th Parks Improvement Comments
To our Laguna Hills City Council and City Manager Hildenbrand, Regarding tonight's meeting, I had the following public comments to share:
1) Suggest city council consider replacing all the City's Park Entrance Signs Existing wooden signs are deteriorating (especially the backing) and a new paint job will not undo the termite damage and wear and tear.
Stone signage similar to Laguna Niguel's signage is more durable and should cost less in long term maintenance (i.e. lower graffiti removal, no repainting, etc.)
Optional: Overnight Solar Powered Lighting would be a nice touch as well. 2) Add Landscaping Screening (tall shrub & trees) for homes immediately backing parks (both Mackenzie and San Remo Parks)
Creates privacy for both homeowners and park users
Landscape screening is popular in neighboring cities (Irvine/Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel)
3) Recommendation City Council prioritize existing plant palette in parks rather than switching to California Native plants.
Reducing landscaping costs if we simply enhance and replace landscaping with our current plant palette rather than a complete removal of established plants.

Item No. 1
2 Most (if not all) of our parks use recycled water so there would be no net water savings from switching to drought tolerant varieties.
Thank you,
