You campaigned on the promise of keeping the city safe even over the budget. “The safety of the residents is the top priority… Management of the budget is second only to safety.” Council Member Wheeler, those were your words to the OC Register in 2018. ( https://www.ocregister.com/2018/10/24/election-2018-laguna-hills-city-council-candidates-sharetheir-priorities-and-thoughts-on-local-issues/ ) So as you said, fund the sheriffs, then balance the budget. Not the other way around. “Crime is rampant in California and it is spilling into Laguna Hills. We will not leave our citizens helpless.” Those were your campaign words in 2022. ( https://www.ocregister.com/2022/10/05/davidwheeler-laguna-hills-city-council-candidate-election-2022-questionnaire/ ) Do not withhold funds for our safety. Be a man of your word. We still have crime and gangs in our city. We need the same level of police presence, not less.
Respectfully,
Ezekiel Katz

Recently, OC sheriffs have been deployed to Los Angeles to help with protests and ICE raid concerns.
Crises can arise unpredictably. A shortage of sheriff personnel may compromise the city's safety. It is important to have adequate law enforcement to maintain protection. Ensuring readiness for any potential situation is essential for the city's preparedness. SUPPORT LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AS THEY SUPPORT US.
Kind regards,
Margaret Jenkins
Laguna Hills resident

Police presence deters crime. Our officials must take proactive steps to ensure residents' safety, especially given recent LA protests that could spread to our area. We rely on you to represent our collective voice.
Ms. Park
