Subject: Letter of recommendation for Foster Gene Johns for Laguna Niguel City Council Date: Friday, June 2, 2023 10:02:18 PM
To the Mayor and City Council Members of the City of Laguna Niguel:

I have been a resident of Laguna Niguel for 33 years+. It is an amazingly young city as I have found when I travel to old European locations. The tour guides tell of the age of their city:
many thousands of years old. When I mention the age of Laguna Niguel, I have casually joked that in comparison, I could be considered one of Laguna Niguel’s "town elders".

The elders, historically of course, refers to one who has the experience, wisdom, trustworthiness, and character to be conferred with that title and responsibility in guiding the decisions of the community.

In today's terms, our "elders" are our elected city officials who I've seen cycle through the Laguna Niguel city council over the past 33 years.

I've voted in each and every one of those years. Sometimes, I will admit, not even really "knowing" the true values and experience by which these candidates and incumbents are worthy to run for office and represent, "We the People" of Laguna Niguel.

But this time, in the life of Laguna Niguel, is now fundamentally different. And I've actually found a candidate, a true leader that I know...completely. That is why I am writing in support of Foster “Gene” Johns, who I not only call Gene, but also my friend and neighbor for over 8 years.

Gene is nothing short of an exemplary candidate and more importantly an exemplary human being. He is without a doubt, qualified from an experience perspective as his resume easily shows: a distinguished career in public and private service.

More importantly for me, is the fact that as an everyday citizen, he regularly attends City Council meetings and from time to time, when the issues demand, he rises to speak fairly, objectively and without any political agenda for "We the People": the citizenry of Laguna Niguel.

Most importantly to me, I have personally known Gene for over 8 years and there is no finer person than Gene.

I trust him with the decisions that need to be made for the betterment of our community.

For understanding and thinking his way clear to a resolution which makes sense:
common sense for the citizens.

I implicitly trust him with the welfare and safety of my family. And earning my trust is never an easy proposition.

He is simply a person I know I can count on, and that this great community can count on now and in the future.

When I consider true friends...not just some Facebook category in the thousands, but true friends. I can probably count those true trusted friends on just one hand and Gene is one of those rare five.

I have never written a letter in support of a local candidate. This is my first and there is no one I could recommend more that our good neighbor, friend and hopefully our future city council person, Gene Johns.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

John G. Most

Dear Mayor and Council: I am writing to recommend the appointment of Foster Gene Johns to fill the current vacancy on the City Council. I have known Gene for the past 8 years as a neighbor and local community leader. Here are the reasons he’s the ideal Council Member:

He’s qualified: 31 years as a LA Deputy Sheriff and DEA Task Force Commander He’s involved: Serves on numerous committees, task forces and community groups He’s informed: He is knowledgeable about the issues that impact our community He’s a leader: Strong work ethic, vision and solution-oriented approach

Most importantly, HE HAS CHARACTER. Gene will bring dignity and unity to our Council. He is authentic, honest, credible, humble, positive, and just an extremely likeable person. These personal attributes, along with his genuine commitment to serve our community, make him a leader that Laguna Niguel can be proud of.

As a 16 year Laguna Niguel resident and native OC resident, I highly recommend Foster Gene Johns to our City Council. Thank you.

Good afternoon Laguna Niguel city Council, I urge you to strongly consider Jeff to be appointed to the Laguna Niguel city council spot. He has a fair and reasonable man and would be an asset to the city Council.
