SUBJECT: Designation of a Voting Delegate for the 2023 League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council designate Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Oddo as the Voting Delegate for the 2023 Cal Cities Annual Business Meeting on September 22, 2023.
BACKGROUND
The 2023 League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference is scheduled to be held from September 20-23, 2023, in Sacramento. An important aspect of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, which takes place during the General Assembly on the last day of the conference.
ANALYSIS
At the Annual Conference, Cal Cities membership considers and takes action on resolutions establishing Cal Cities policy. The approved resolutions guide Cal Cities in efforts to improve the quality and responsiveness of local government in California. The City Council must designate a voting delegate to vote at the annual business meeting.
Voting delegates must be registered to at least attend the Friday session of the conference. In accordance with the City Council Policies and Procedures, under Mayor and City Council, Section E, the Mayor Pro Tem is the designated voting delegate when the Mayor cannot attend. Thus, staff recommends that the City Council designate Mayor Pro Tem Oddo as the voting delegate for the 2023 Cal Cities Annual Business Meeting.
