Subject: Letter of support for Stephanie Oddo
Dear Honorable Council Members of Laguna Niguel,
I am writing you this letter because I will be unable to attend the December council meeting and want to express my heartfelt support and admiration for our Mayor Pro Tem, Stephanie Oddo. It is both a blessing and an honor to call Stephanie my friend. I feel equally fortunate that she has dedicated her remarkable talents and tireless energy to serving our community. I am asking for your support to make her the next Mayor of Laguna Niguel in the coming year; I am confident that our city will be in capable and caring hands.
Stephanie embodies the qualities of an exceptional leader. She is intelligent, articulate, and unwavering in her commitment to the citizens of Laguna Niguel. Her approach to challenges sets her apart—not as problems, but as opportunities to discover solutions. Her determination to achieve positive outcomes is genuinely inspiring, and her relentless pursuit of what is best for our community speaks volumes about her character and work ethic.
What I admire most about Stephanie is her gift for building teams and fostering collaboration.
She has an incredible ability to bring people together, harnessing their diverse strengths and perspectives to achieve meaningful results. I have witnessed firsthand how her enthusiasm and inclusivity inspire others to work toward a shared goal. Stephanie’s leadership is not only effective but also deeply rooted in her genuine care for the well-being of every individual she serves.
Laguna Niguel is fortunate to have such a dedicated, compassionate leader guiding us forward.
I have no doubt that Stephanie will continue to make a lasting, positive impact on our community, and I am proud to support her in all her endeavors.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Courtney Fielder

Subject: City Council - Mayoral Decision
To Laguna Niguel City Council Members,
Last year I wrote to the Council with my thoughts prior to the vote for Mayor.
I also attended the meeting when the
vote took place. As you might remember, I had written that it made sense to follow tradition and advance the Mayor Pro Tem to Mayor the following year.
Given the unusual circumstances to the start of last year, I hadn’t anticipated the Council’s reason for the decision it took to keep Mayor Jennings on as Mayor again. Having said that, I appreciated the logic associated with that decision, understood it, and respected it.
I am happy that Mayor Jennings
(and the rest of the Council) have kept things running smoothly this year after that hard start to the previous year.
Mayor Pro Tem Oddo was voted Mayor Pro Tem for a second year in a row, as she was (and is) a good Council partner to everyone and represents our city unquestionably well.
I hope the old logic and tradition will hold true this
year, by appointing Ms. Oddo the Mayor title.
From my vantage point, Mayor Pro Tem Oddo has upheld her duties very well, she currently the second longest serving candidate (along with Councilmember Gennawey), and definitely deserves the title of Mayor this upcoming year.
I hope you all unanimously agree with my thoughts on this position.
Thank you in advance for your consideration on this important decision for our city.

Subject: Selection Of Laguna Niguel Mayor
Date: Monday, December 2, 2024 8:50:30 AM
To the Members of the Laguna Niguel City Council,
I write to register my support for the elevation of mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Oddo to Mayor of Laguna Niguel.
I am a Laguna Niguel resident and follow
many City Council proceedings.
Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Oddo has done a stellar job as Mayor Pro Tem
for the last two
terms.
Last year, this Council re-appointed Mayor Jennings for another mayoral term -- as opposed to elevating Stephanie Oddo, the Mayor Pro Tem at the time -- with the stated rationale that Mayor Jenning's first
term was a truncated one.
Mayor Pro Tem Oddo graciously accepted
the
Council's decision to remain as Mayor Pro Tem for another
term.
In that position, Ms. Oddo
continued to dedicate herself to working with the City Staff and colleagues on the City Council for the benefit of all of those in Laguna Niguel.
I personally find it startling that there is no written policy -- but suspect there may be a custom or practice --in Laguna Niguel which aids the smooth transition of the mayoral position by promoting
the Mayor Pro Tem to
Mayor at the start of a new term.
Obviously, the outcome
of a city election where a Mayor Pro Tem was defeated would be cause to depart from such a policy or practice .
However, absent an electoral loss or clear unfitness for office, there is sound reason to
elevate the Mayor Pro Tem to Mayor.
This Council clearly has the
confidence in Stephanie Oddo's ability to be an outstanding Mayor of Laguna Niguel as evidenced by your selection of her to perform Mayoral duties when necessary as part of her role as Mayor Pro Tem for the past two terms.
I strongly urge City Council to appoint Stephanie Oddie as our next Mayor of Laguna Niguel.
Sincerely,
Susan Aaronson

Subject: Stephanie Oddo for Mayor of Laguna Niguel 2025 Hi Laguna Niguel City Council members,
Last year, I spoke up for Stephanie Oddo to be our next Mayor.
I spoke of the many reasons why she has and would
continue to serve our city well as Mayor given her track record and concerns.
This year, I see the same variety of
solid accomplishments and contributions Mayor Pro Tem Oddo has made to our city.
I like the way she listens to
what people are concerned about and what they want to see made better.
I like that she talks to the business
community, to our schools, to our environmental residents and our real estate colleagues.
She works hard to
improve our city for all the people who live here or visit here.
I want Ms. Oddo to be made our next Mayor and certainly hope you agree with me and will vote yes for her.
Thank you,
Melissa Waters

Subject: Support for Stephanie Oddo for Mayor of Laguna Niguel
Honorable Laguna Niguel City Council Members,
My family and I have been residents of our beautiful City of Laguna Niguel for about 19 years.
It's very apparent that currently we have a council that truly cares about all of our citizens and the quality of life we enjoy here.
Stephanie Oddo has been a big reason why.
This is why I am writing to
support Stephanie Oddo as the next Mayor of Laguna Niguel.
Councilmember Oddo was voted by her peers to be Mayor Pro Tem in April 2023.
Since then, Ms. Oddo has served in that role honorably and with distinction.
The tradition in the city of Laguna Niguel has been that the Mayor Pro Tem is subsequently voted in as Mayor.
That did not happen last year,
but despite that, Mayor Pro Tem Oddo has represented the City Council and Laguna Niguel's citizens with dignity and enthusiasm on a variety of local and countywide commissions.
Her hard work and approach as a
consensus-builder produces results: One of her first accomplishments was to bring to our city awareness and action about rising property insurance, particularly in light of more frequent and devastating wildfires.
Mayor Pro
Tem Oddo also was appointed to the Orange County Housing and Community Development Commission.
Her focus with housing was that
HUD funding remains consistent with the needs of housing voucher recipients, the majority of whom in Laguna Niguel are seniors.
Mayor Pro
Tem Oddo worked proactively and collaboratively with our city staff, other council members, and partners on the County Board of Supervisors to secure funding for resolving the La Paz Road reconstruction project, one of this city's leading public works priorities in recent years.
Mayor Pro Tem Oddo is well respected by the many organizations she participates with, from honoring veterans to her service with intergovernmental agencies.
Stephanie Oddo makes it a point to attend
many festivals, functions, and meetings throughout the community -- from the Sea Country Festival to Chamber of Commerce events.
Finally, Mayor Pro Tem Oddo recognizes the important roles of civility and mutual respect in fostering a healthy and productive civic environment.
Mayor Pro Tem Oddo has championed an atmosphere of professionalism
and cooperation, in which the dignity of city employees and citizens is upheld and respected. She has established the highest level of communication and transparency to her constituents about the various processes of municipal governance.
It is for these reasons and more that
I support Stephanie Oddo’s continued dedicated and compassionate service on the City Council as our next Mayor of Laguna Niguel.
It is a
role that she deserves and has earned.
It would be wonderful if the City
Council would acknowledge Stephanie Oddo's high standards and outstanding service by naming her Mayor at the December 3, 2024 meeting.
Thank you for your continued commitment and service to the City of Laguna Niguel.
Rocky Cifone, Ed.D.
