Subject:Energy Efficiency-light Emitting Diode (LED) Fixture Replacement Agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE)
Recommendation
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an Agreement with SCE to convert SCE owned fixtures in the City of Lake Elsinore to LED fixtures in such final form as approved by the City Attorney.
Background
SCE approached the City regarding the conversion of SCE owned fixtures throughout the City to high efficiency LED fixtures. SCE will manage the project, provide the LED fixtures at no cost to the City.
Discussion
SCE estimates about 742 street light fixtures throughout the City that are still owned by Southern California Edison. SCE proposes to change the aging low efficiency fixtures with LED replacement. The new fixtures are reliable, dark sky compliant, and are robust in all weather conditions. Life expectancy of the new fixtures is anticipated to be 12 to 20 years. Installation is anticipated to begin within seven months of executing the agreement. The 20 year savings outlook is estimated to be $41,240 yearly per SCE’s estimate.
Fiscal Impact
According to SCE’s estimates, the fiscal impact on the City is an annual savings of $41,240 over a 20-year period.
