Recommendation
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Fehr & Peers for Environmental Clearance, Final Design, and Construction Support services for the HSIP Cycle 12 Citywide Signalized Intersections Systemic Safety Improvements Project in the amount of $82,100 in such final form as approved by the City Attorney and authorize City Manager to execute change orders not to exceed a 10% contingency for unanticipated costs.
Background
For the Highway Safety Improvement (HSIP) Cycle 12 grant, 288 project were selected from a candidate pool of 330 applicants. City secured the HSIP Cycle 12 grant to upgrade to retroreflective signal backplates at thirty existing intersections and pedestrian countdown heads at two (2) intersections throughout the City.
Professional Services Agreement will authorize Fehr & Peers to start the design of citywide intersection improvements at thirty existing intersections throughout the city. The intersections were determined from the City adopted Local Road Safety Plan while preparing the HSIP Cycle 12 application for funding. These locations were identified as having the highest collision rates of existing at existing signalized intersections that do not currently have any projects or funding for improvements. These intersections are identified in Attachment 2 - Project Map.
