As requested, here is the narrative explaining the implications of changing the design depth from 12 to 25 feet for the existing invert elevation:

The change to a 25-foot design depth has substantially impacted the overall project in several ways:

1. Pipe Grade and Alignment: The increase in depth has necessitated adjustments to the pipe grade and to accommodate the deeper placement load, the pipe had to be upgraded to DR18 to accommodate load from the increased depth

2. Manhole Depth: The increased depth also means that manholes must be constructed deeper, impacting the equipment, labor and the materials needed for construction.

3. Coating Requirements: Deeper installations require additional coating materials.

4. Excavation Volume: The amount of excavation required has increased significantly, which impacts both the time and cost of construction.

5. Shoring Equipment: The depth change has necessitated the use of larger, more robust shoring equipment to ensure safety and stability during the excavation process and an engineered plan stamped by a civil engineer.

6. Production Loss: The additional depth and complexity of excavation have resulted in reduced production rates, affecting project timelines and labor, equipment, traffic control and shoring cost. We request the original contract working days of 60 to be increased by 30, for a total of 90 working days to accommodate the increase in work

7. Switching to Nights: has generated an overall increase due to the special shift labor prevailing wage costs and plant night opening fees for the asphalt and rock material and other material. These additional nighttime operational requirements have impacted the cost structure and scheduling of the project significantly. The necessity for nighttime labor comes with increased wage costs due to prevailing wage laws for special shifts.

Additionally, the need to open plants at night to supply asphalt and rock materials has incurred extra fees.

These comprehensive changes have collectively triggered a series of design, material, and operational adjustments throughout the project, necessitating further analysis and potential adjustments in budget and scheduling. Cost for reduction all purchased material will be carried by the city per our agreement.

Due to budget constraints, per your request we deleted line-item No. 9 (Construct 541LF 8” DR- 18) and reduced Line Item No. 11 (Manhole Installation) from 3 to 1
