Recommendation
Adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND LAKE ELSINORE PROJECT.
Background
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant Program, administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, provides funding to local agencies for the acquisition and development of outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Since 1965, this program has helped fund more than 1,000 park projects across California, expanding access to outdoor spaces and promoting community health and wellness.
Discussion
The City of Lake Elsinore is pursuing a $2,500,000 grant through the LWCF Grant Program to support the acquisition of property for the development of a new public park. Staff has identified suitable parcels that would expand and enhance the City's parks system to better serve current and future residents. If awarded, the grant will help meet growing community demand for recreational amenities and green space.
A resolution of support from the City Council is required as part of the grant application package.
