Subject:Acquisition of One (1) City Replacement Fleet Vehicle Recommendation
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a Purchase Order with Diamond Chevrolet for $84,642.91 for the purchase of one (1) City replacement fleet vehicle in such final form as approved by the City Attorney and authorize the City Manager to execute change orders not to exceed a 10% contingency of $8,464 for uncertainties and adjustments.
Background
The City of Lake Elsinore has historically purchased and owned all fleet vehicles and equipment.
The City maintains a fleet of vehicles and equipment for various departments, including light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles. The City owns 76 light and medium-duty vehicles.
The City reviews its vehicle replacement needs twice a year, once during budget preparation and again as the mid-year budget approaches. During the mid-year review, staff also consider opportunities to re-task vehicles to maximize their value.
Discussion
Staff is requesting a replacement fleet vehicle. In November 2017, the City purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe for municipal use. After eight years of service and accumulating 120,534 miles, the vehicle has reached the end of its reliable operational life.
