Subject:Amendment No. 1 to the Contractor Services Agreements for On-call Geotechnical Testing Services
Recommendation
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 with LOR Geotechnical Group, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $20,000 and Amendment No. 1 with ALTA California Geotechnical, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $20,000 for on-call geotechnical testing services in such final form as approved by the City Attorney.
Background
The Engineering Department, as part of construction activities related to CIP Projects such as pavement rehabilitation, sidewalk improvements, and other projects, requires specific expertise related to geotechnical and material testing. Because the need for these services is dependent on the activity level of the CIP projects, the City uses contract engineering firms that have the flexibility to provide staff to accommodate the fluctuation in workload.
Discussion
The Engineering Department CIP related activities have had an increase in scope of work and additional construction-related activities. Due to this increase each contract requires an increase in compensation. The distribution of total funds is based on prior year’s activity and anticipated projects that will require geotechnical testing services.
Amendment No. 1 will increase each consultant’s compensation to add an additional $20,000.

Fiscal Impact
Agreements will be funded through the City’s adopted CIP Program.
