Subject:Donation of 2014 Quint No. 97 Fire Truck to the Riverside County Fire Department
Recommendation
Approve the donation of the 2014 Quint No. 97 Fire Truck to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Background
The City has received a request from CalFire Chief Bill Weiser to donate the 2014 Quint to the Riverside County Fire Department. The truck would be parked at Rosetta Canyon Fire Station as a backup and as a condition of the donation.
The 2014 Quint Fire Truck was purchased on March 26, 2013, for the Rosetta Canyon Fire Station No. 97. Quint No. 97 was placed into service in 2014. The fire truck has been fully depreciated.
Currently, Quint No. 97 is being used as a reserve in the event a frontline Truck/Engine is out of service.
On April 11, 2023, the City Council approved the purchase of a new Quint fire apparatus, funded by Measure Z funds. The new 75’ Aerial Fire Truck was purchased in July of 2025 and has been assigned to the Rosetta Canyon Fire Station #97 and is currently in service.
Fiscal Impact
By donating the 2014 Quint, the city will be released of all associated maintenance costs, use costs, liability, and insurance.
