I believe I am particularly qualified as I grew up in Lakeport, I continually participate in AICP classes, and have a deep longing to revitalize residents’ sense of place. Nobody wants their neighborhood to change; but without change, a neighborhood will stagnate and decline.

Many cities are experiencing co-occurring crises, not just Lakeport, and there’s so much to learn from their success. The creative solutions we plant now are the seeds of an economically sustainable future.

I’m guided by 6 core principles for building a strong town, and hope I’ll have an opportunity to elaborate on them:
● Financial solvency is a prerequisite for long-term prosperity. ● Land is the base resource from which community prosperity is built and sustained. It must not be squandered.
● A transportation system is a means of creating prosperity in a community, not an end in itself.
● Job creation and economic growth are the results of a healthy local economy, not substitutes for one.
● Strong cities, towns, and neighborhoods cannot happen without strong citizens (people who care).
● Local government is a platform for Strong Citizens to collaboratively build a prosperous place.

Thanks for your consideration.
