Adopt Resolution No. 23-60, ordering the vacation of a portion of the Public Road Easement as dedicated on the Map Filled in Book 5, pages 470 to 471 of Miscellaneous Records, located within block 2 on the north side of Milling Street between Beech Avenue and Sierra Highway, in the City of Lancaster.
Fiscal Impact:
None.
Background:
Said Public Road Easement is classified as street alley which was dedicated to the City in 1884. Vacating a portion of this street alley is intended as part of the proposed improvements recommended for the City’s Public Safety building.
There are existing utilities within the proposed vacation area. These utilities include Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, Charter Communication and City Sewer. On September 5, 2023, City sent notifications to provide opportunity to all utility agencies that wish to reserve easements for any existing or planned utilities within the proposed area to be vacated. City received confirmations from various utility agencies wishing to reserve easements on the proposed vacation area. These agencies include but not limited to Verizon, Charter Communications, and others.
On October 10, 2023, the City adopted Resolution No. , declaring its intention to vacate the subject road easement and set October 24, 2023, as the date of the Public Hearing to receive testimony relative to the proposed vacation.

The Public Hearing will be held for the City Council to determine if there are any public objections to the City vacating a portion of the said road easement.
