Subject: Antelope Valley Sheriff Boosters Club Sponsorship Donation Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Approve a $99,775 Sponsorship Donation to the Antelope Valley (AV) Sheriff Boosters Club; Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute and sign all documents.
2. Find that this item is not a project pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act.
Fiscal Impact:
Sufficient funds of $99,775 are available in account number 10111000.5710. This allocation follows a previous contribution of $75,000, totaling a combined support of $174,774 to the Antelope Valley Boosters Club.
Background:
The Antelope Valley Sheriff Boosters Club is a well-established organization within our community that plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing various activities related to our Antelope Valley law enforcement personnel. The club comprises local business professionals and has a proven track record of promoting excellence in resources for our local sheriff’s station.
The AV Sheriff Boosters Club has submitted a sponsorship donation request of $99,775 to purchase 57 new lockers for the Lancaster station. The City Manager has reviewed and supported their request; however, City Council approval is required due to the total donation amount exceeding the current approval limit of $125,000.
The AV Sheriff Boosters Club is vital in improving law enforcement equipment in our community. The club has a proven history of responsible use of donations and has consistently contributed to our local community. This donation presents a valuable opportunity to support and enhance our law enforcement infrastructure, demonstrating the city's commitment to safety and community partnership.
