Subject: Professional Services Agreement for SB 1383 Consulting Services Recommendations:
1. Approve Agreement for Professional Services with Go2Zero Strategies (Go2Zero) in the amount of $154,052.33 for SB 1383 Consulting Services.
2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to sign all documents.
Fiscal Impact:
$154,052.33. Sufficient funds are available in account 10127000.5710 and project account number 4500OWR4.MISCGRANT GL Code 22427000.5656.
Background:
The City is continuing to implement programs to maintain compliance with SB 1383, including, but not limited to, site visits with edible food generators, food recovery organizations, presentations and outreach to stakeholders, large event compliance efforts, and software to track all the information required by CalRecycle. Go2Zero has been involved with each of these items and has helped to complete the first round of approved waivers, which are valid for 5 years.
Go2Zero’s representatives have gotten to know the local businesses and non-profits that are impacted by this piece of legislation, and this has helped with compliance in portions of SB 1383 (e.g., large event food donations). In addition, through site visits with the local food recovery organizations, Go2Zero is compiling the necessary information for the required capacity reporting due to the County of Los Angeles in June. Go2Zero has completed the first round of required route audits of residential and commercial locations, and the second round is due prior to 2025. If approved, this contract will help to keep the City’s compliance efforts moving forward and build on the current progress.
