The Boys & Girls Club of the Antelope Valley is committed to expanding its impact by providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for Lancaster’s youth—particularly those in foster care and experiencing housing insecurity. By renting this facility, we can serve up to 400 young people with high- quality after-school and summer programming that keeps them engaged, learning, and supported while their families work. The 12 classrooms will allow us to offer academic support, career readiness, and mentorship programs, while the activity lab will be transformed into a state-of-the-art tech lab to equip youth with 21st- century skills. This space will serve as a vital resource for vulnerable youth who need stability, guidance, and opportunities to build a brighter future.
Beyond youth programming, this facility will have a direct positive impact on the surrounding community.
Families enrolled in the Club will have access to our on-site food pantry, helping to alleviate food insecurity for those in need. By providing a safe, structured space for youth when school is out, we enable parents to maintain stable employment, contributing to Lancaster’s economic well-being. With the City’s support, we can ensure that more young people have access to the resources, mentorship, and support they need to thrive, making this facility a true asset to the Lancaster community.
Since 1991, the Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Club have provided mentorship, academic support, and social-emotional guidance, creating a safe and nurturing environment for youth to grow and succeed. Our passion for the mission helps foster resilience, leadership, and confidence in the young people of Lancaster, ensuring they have the skills and support needed to build a brighter future.
PROGRAMS
Character & Leadership
Building strong character and essential leadership skills in youth is critical to preparing them to rise to meet their next challenge or opportunity.
Through character-building and leadership development, Boys & Girls Clubs prepare youth as the innovators and change-makers our communities and world need most.
Leadership is more than just directing a committee, event or group.
Leaders are people who think for themselves, express thoughts and feelings honestly and directly, act on beliefs, and inspire others to action.
As leaders, youth need a deeper knowledge of themselves, their social setting and the world around them. That’s why Club staff work to cultivate environments for youth that are safe spaces for conversation, exploration, and learning about the critical issues that affect them, their community and our world. This supports building strong character and leadership skills that help youth better understand their emotions, personal values, and identity, developing social awareness, and communicating effectively with other people. Combined, this intentional approach cements a strong foundation for personal growth, leadership with others and the ability to take positive action in the world.
Academic Success
To fuel Academic Success, your support will help Boys & Girls Clubs combine four critical ingredients: engaging programming, youth development best practices, collaborative partnerships, and safe, supportive environments. More than just one single program or curriculum, this approach embeds learning opportunities in nearly every area of a young person’s Club experience—homework help, games, art projects, tutoring, science experiments, book clubs, physical play and sports, and more.
This variety of academic programming and activities supports and reinforces what youth are learning at school while creating unique, fun opportunities for expanded learning and enrichment. Club programming also addresses the learning disruption that occurs during the summer and engages youth in learning through discovery, creative expression and group projects that keep them on track in school and help them to become self-directed, motivated learners.
Health & Well Being
To fuel Health & Well-Being, your support will help Boys & Girls Clubs deploy a comprehensive approach to whole-child health. Club staff show up every day to create safe, supportive environments where youth have their physical, social, emotional and mental well-being needs met.
Our suite of Health & Well-Being programs tackles the biggest issues facing youth, including building healthy habits, gender-based issues, physical activity, nutrition and avoiding risky behaviors like tobacco, alcohol and drug use, violence and premature sexual activity. Across these areas, every program helps promote health and create opportunities for youth to build and practice agency and healthy decision-making skills in action.
Life & Workforce Readiness
Through our Life & Workforce Readiness strategy, Boys & Girls Clubs equip youth to navigate challenges, discover their passions and turn them into fulfilling careers. More than just one single program or curriculum, our comprehensive approach embeds Life & Workforce Readiness strategies in every area of a young person’s Club experience, as early as age six. This isn't just about entering the workforce. It's about building a life filled with purpose, confidence, independence and the ability to turn dreams into reality. And for the communities we serve, it's about supporting the skills and experiences that drive economic mobility.
Mental & Emotional Health
Every time a young person enters their local Boys & Girls Club, we want them to feel completely safe, supported and valued. From the trained, caring Club staff members that show up for them every day, to the opportunities youth have to learn and explore with peers, or the systems and partnerships happening behind the scenes, everything in a Boys & Girls Club supports youth mental and emotional health.
