RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
SUBMITTAL OF THE APPLICATION(S) FOR ALL
CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL GRANTS FOR
WHICH THE CITY OF LANCASTER IS ELIGIBLE AND
APPROVAL TO RECEIVE CTFGP FUNDING
WHEREAS, pursuant to Revenue and Taxation Code Section 34019(f)(3)(B), the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is authorized to administer grant programs (grants) in furtherance of the State of California's (state) efforts to reduce impaired driving crashes, increase public awareness surrounding the dangers of impaired driving, and making California’s roadways a safer place to travel; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of this authority CHP is required to establish procedures governing the application, award, and management of the grants; and WHEREAS, CHP grant application procedures require, among other things, applicant's governing body declare by resolution certain authorizations related the acceptance and administration of CHP grants; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lancaster desires to secure grant funding for programs to reduce impaired driving crashes, increase public awareness surrounding the dangers of impaired driving, and making California’s roadways a safer place to travel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LANCASTER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lancaster authorizes the submittal of application(s) to California Highway Patrol for all grants for which the City of Lancaster is eligible; and
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lancaster authorizes the acceptance of CTFGP funding from the California Highway Patrol for all grants for which the City of Lancaster is eligible; and
Section 3. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Lancaster a grant agreement with the California Highway Patrol in the amount of $143,431.00.
