Section 1. That foregoing Recitals are true, correct and a substantive part of this Ordinance.
Section 2. That the Community Development Department staff are hereby authorized and directed to execute and file a Notice of Exemption pursuant to CEQA.
Section 3. That the City Council hereby adopts the following General Plan Amendment findings, pursuant to Section 17.24.140 of the LMC, in support of approval of this application:
a. Information presented at public hearing shows that such amendment is necessary to implement the general plan and/or that the public convenience, the general welfare or good zoning practice justifies such action.
The proposed SGNP and anticipated subsequent development are compatible with the intent of the General Plan and consistent with the specific objectives and policies identified in the Analysis section of the staff report. In order to accommodate the development associated with the SGNP, the General Plan designation for all parcels within the plan area must be changed to Specific Plan. This change would allow for the development of the uses identified in the SGNP resulting in the vision the General Plan has for the core of the City.
Section 4. The City Council hereby approves GPA No. 25- 006 to redesignate the subject properties to SP.
Section 5. The City Council hereby approves SP No. 26- 001 for the Sierra Gateway Neighborhood Plan.
