ITEM: RECEIVE INFORMATION ON THE LATHROP POLICE
DEPARTMENT VEHICLES AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK
ON COLOR AND DESIGN
SUMMARY:
The City of Lathrop purchased sixteen ( 16) new Ford Police Interceptor Units from Folsom Lake Ford for the start- up of the new Lathrop Police Department. All sixteen 16) police vehicles were ordered in the standard black and white color scheme. Staff is seeking Council comments on moving to an off-white vehicle with Lathrop' s custom decals for all sixteen ( 16) Police Interceptor Units.
BAC KG ROU N D:
In the past, under the contract with the San Joaquin Sheriff' s Office we have ordered all black or black and white vehicles. In our experience, these vehicles are extremely hot in the summer time and they are difficult to keep clean. Lathrop being a new Police Department will distinguish itself using the off- white color and customized logos.
The cost of the color change is approximately $ 3, 600 per vehicle. The funds are currently budgeted in the approved Police Transition Budget.
