1 Item 5.1 – City Council Regular Meeting March 14, 2022 2022 One Voice Travel
2 Background
• Since 2000, The San Joaquin Council of Governments
(SJCOG) has coordinated a delegation of
policymakers, governmental officials and business
leaders from San Joaquin County to call upon
Congressional representatives and administrative staff in Washington D.C. to discuss specific issues and projects of importance to the region.
• City of Lathrop officials have participated in the last 15 One Voice trips.
3 2022 One Voice – Projects Submitted
• Each jurisdiction is allowed to submit two projects:
• One Regional Transportation project
• One Local Priority project.
• Tonight, Staff recommended to City Council, two
projects to be included in the list of projects used for the 2022 One Voice trip to Washington, D.C.:
• Louise Avenue/I-5 Interchange
• Lathrop Road/I-5 Interchange
4 Select One Voice Participants
• This year, the conference will be from May 7 – May 13, 2022.
• City policy requires Council approval for all out-of-state travel.
• Travel funds for the One Voice Trip are not included the City Council expense budget.
• However, if Council elects to send the City Manager to attend this years’ One Voice Legislative Event, funds are available.
5 Select One Voice Participants (continued)
• If Council elected to have 1 or 2 Council Members
attend this years’ One Voice Legislative Event, a budget amendment would be required depending on the
selected option.
• Therefore, we ask Council to discuss and select
participants, approve out-of-state travel, and budget
amendment.
