Item 5.2
 Policy development is a key part of the
League of California Cities (League)
effectiveness.
 The League holds an Annual Conference and
Business Meeting to decide League policy for
the upcoming year.
 The Annual Conference will be held at the
Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach,
California, September 7-9, 2022.
 The League’s Annual Conference Resolutions
is one way that city officials can directly
participate in the development of League
policy.
 Council action is required to designate a
voting delegate (and up to two alternates) in
order to participate in the Business Meeting.
 Each member City has the right to cast one
vote on matter pertaining to League policy.
 Conference registration required.
 The approximate cost per person is estimated
at $1,500 per person:
 League Registration $650 (register by August 24)
 Hotel/Transportation/Other $850
 Currently, $7,500 is available in the new Fiscal
Year 22-23, budget for City Council training &
travel expenses throughout the fiscal year.
 This year the League did not receive any Resolutions by the deadline.
 However, a petitioned Resolution can still be submitted during the Annual Conference and would need to be considered and voted on during the business meeting.
 There is an amendment to Cal Cities bylaws to be considered and voted on during the business meeting. This packet will be available to the members in mid-late August.
 The General Resolutions Committee will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, to consider the matters on the agenda and any petitioned resolutions made during the conference.  Final vote of General Assembly - 11:30 a.m., Sept. 9th  For 2022, Councilmember Akinjo serves as
the City Delegate to the League’s Central
Valley Executive Committee, and
Councilmember Diallo serves as the City’s
Alternate.
