Dear City Leaders,
Tonight you will be voting on the next phase of the general plan for Lathrop.
Before you do, I am asking you to get in your car, take the map and drive all the locations they want to rezone as you head to city hall.
Drive the streets where the trucks will be driving, look at all the open fields, and picture warehouses sitting there.
Envision what Lathrop will look like once we start moving light industrial on both sides of the freeway.
Think about the frustrations we have today just driving from one side of Lathrop to the other.
Think about the kids on the football field, the track, or just walking home. Will they be impacted, maybe not immediately, but what will be the long-term effects? What will be the long-term effects on all of us? I believe before this is approved, you should consider pushing back for stronger guidelines or, at minimum, option 3, which I understand is better, but not good enough, but better.
I know this was a lot to review; just for the EIR, was over 800 pages.
So just keep it simple, look at the map and ask, are we doing what’s right for the residents? Thank you for your time,
Christina Campoy-Laughlin
