Roof Repair Siding/Stucco Repair Landscaping Exterior Lighting Accessibility Signage Example:

A grocery store owner leases a building on 7
th Street where the business has resided for more 20 years. The building needs paint, window upgrades, and door replacement to meet accessibility needs for customers. The building owner gives permission to the tenant to pursue these upgrades to the building façade. The contractor bid, cost of the materials, labor, and architectural services total $45,000.

Grocery store owner learns about the City’s Façade Improvement Program. The store owner is aware that he will be responsible for a 50% match of the cost and any additional amount over the City’s maximum reimbursement grant of $20,000.

With written authorization from the building owner, the store owner decides to apply for the City’s Façade Improvement Program. The City provides conditional approval of the store owner’s project and gives a written notice to proceed through the City’s permitting and regulatory process to move the project to fruition.

In this case, the store owner would be required to pay the $45,000 at completion of the project and submit required documentation to the City for grant reimbursement of $20,000. The store owner’s out of pocket cost for these improvements is $25,000.

Overall Cost of Improvements $45,000
