City Council Meeting July 8, 2024
Item 5.2
The City of Lathrop currently has no policies or
regulations in place regarding special colored
lighting to acknowledge federal holidays and support
of City recognized events.
At its May 13, 2024 meeting, the City Council
discussed the possibility of displaying colored
(themed) lighting of City owned palm trees.
Council directed staff to research special colored
lighting policies from other jurisdictions and bring
back a presentation for further discussion and the
possibility of adopting a policy.
The proposed lighting policy allows special
colored lighting of the City maintained street
light fixtures attached to the palm trees that are
located within the City’s right-of-way areas.
Staff found several Cities that have
commemorative policies in place using special
colored lighting as inspiration to draft Lathrop’s
policy.
