LATHROP POLICE DEPARTMENT STAFF TO ATTEND
THE 24PET' S SOFTWARE USER CONFERENCE IN

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution Approving Out -of -State Travel for two ( 2) Lathrop Police Department Staff to Attend
the 24Pet' sSoftware User Conference in Las Vegas,
Nevada from September 24, 2024 to September 26,
2024
SUMMARY:
The City of Lathrop Police Department' s
Animal Center ( Animal Center) utilizes
24Pet' s Chameleon software as the Animal Center' s Integrated Shelter Case Management Software ( CMS). The software is used to help manage and streamline our animal center' s day to day activities including animal licensing, vaccination records, bite reports, and kennel tracking.
Attending the 24Pet' s Software User Conference will provide valuable training and networking opportunities with industry leaders, software developers, and other animal shelter professionals that also use the same software. This training and connections can lead to collaboration, partnerships, and sharing of best practices that will benefit and help our animal center operations be more efficient and effective.
The cost for two ( 2) staff members to attend the 24Pet' s User Software Conference is estimated at $ 2, 600. There are sufficient funds in the adopted FY 24-5 budget to cover the cost of the training. Staff recommends City Council approve the out-fstate travel for two ( 2) Lathrop Police Department staff to attend the 24Pet' s User Software Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada from September 24, 2024 to September 26, 2024.
BACKGROUND:
The Animal Center utilizes 24Pet' s Chameleon software as the Animal Center' s Integrated Shelter Case Management Software ( CMS). The software is used to help manage and streamline our animal center' sday to day activities.
Some of the many features of the CMS that is used daily includes:
Animal licensing, including the ability to renew their animal licenses online Cashiering and Web Payments
Vaccination Records and Microchip tracking
Veterinary record - keeping, including medical history, treatments, medications, and spay/ neuter records

CONFERENCE IN SEPTEMBER 2024
Creating individual animal records with photos and behavior profiles Connect to multiple animal search websites for adoption visibility and lost pet listings
Bite reporting and animal profiles for enforcement
Kennel management and tracking, and inventory
Creation of statistic reports, new License and renewal license letters, and ad - hoc customer letters, notifications, charts, and graphs Attending the 24Pet' s User Software Conference will provide valuable training on the software updates and networking opportunities that connect our department staff with other professionals who use the same software. This training and connections can lead to collaboration, partnerships, and sharing of best practices that will benefit and help our animal center operations be more efficient and effective. Additionally, they will be able to work with the software developers to find out what changes or updates may be coming for the CMS.
REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION:
24Pet' s User Software Conference will provide the training the department staff needs to acquire proficiency and stay up to date with the changing technology which will enable them to utilize the CMS effectively and efficiently. Staff requests that the City Council adopt resolution approving the out-f- state travel for two ( 2) Lathrop Police Department staff members to attend the 24Pet' s User Software Conference being held in Las Vegas, Nevada from September 24, 2024 to September 26, 2024.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost for two police department staff members to attend the 24Pet' sUser Software Conference is estimated to be $ 2, 600. There are sufficient funds in the adopted FY 24-5 Budget to cover the cost of the training and travel.

The foregoing resolution was passed and adopted this 12th day of August 2024, by the following vote of the City Council, to wit:
