ITEM: APPROVE PURCHASE OF TWO ( 2) VEHICLES FROM
MANTECA FORD FOR THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution Approving the Purchase of Two ( 2) Vehicles from Manteca Ford for the Building
Department
SUMMARY:
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the purchasing and maintaining of City fleet vehicles and equipment for the purpose of operating facilities, construction of infrastructure, and public safety. Due to the growth of the City and necessary replacement of vehicles that have met their usable life span, new fleet vehicles are needed for staff to continue to efficiently perform Citywide services.
Staff is requesting Council approval of the purchase of two ( 2) vehicles.
Pursuant to the Lathrop Municipal Code ( LMC) 2. 36. 050( D), staff requested quotes from multiple dealerships for the Building Department vehicles. Manteca Ford provided the lowest quote of $44, 808 for a 2024 Ford Ranger XL 4X2 SuperCrew 5' box truck equipped with safety lighting and in - cab controller, headache rack, spray on bedliner and two wheel - well toolboxes.

BACKGROUND:
Due to the growth of the City of Lathrop and the need to replace vehicles that have met their life span, two ( 2) new vehicles are requested for the Building Department.
In October, a vehicle transmission required repairs at a cost of more than $ 5, 000, which is more than the value of the vehicle. In addition to the loss of a vehicle due to repair costs compared to the value of the vehicle, the City' s growth has increased the necessity for more vehicles for the purpose of operating facilities, construction of infrastructure, and public safety.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LATHROP APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF TWO ( 2) 2024 FORD RANGER XL 4X2 SUPERCREW 5' BOX TRUCKS FROM MANTECA FORD FOR THE BUILDING
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, due to growth of the City of Lathrop and the need to replace vehicles that have met their life span, and staff requested multiple quotes from multiple dealerships; and
WHEREAS, Manteca Ford provided the lowest quote of $ 89, 616 for two ( 2) necessary vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Sufficient funds have been allocated in the approved biennial budget for Fiscal Year 2024/5 for the purchase of two ( 2) vehicles for the Building Department
WHEREAS, staff is requesting Council approve the purchase of the following vehicles from Manteca Ford:
