Background Information:

Why do you wish to serve as an appointed member of the City Council:

I have a profound passion and love for my city, coupled with a deep respect and sense of responsibility to ensure that Lathrop continues moving toward greatness. Serving as an appointed member of the City Council would allow me to contribute meaningfully to our community's growth, prosperity, and resilience. My dedication to public service stems from a commitment to creating equitable opportunities for all residents, fostering connections among our diverse population, and addressing the unique challenges that Lathrop faces.

I wish to bring a strong, proactive voice to our local government—one that champions transparency, inclusivity, and sustainable development. My robust background in advocacy, public policy, and community engagement, as well as my experience working with organizations like the International Rescue Committee, Sierra Healthcare Foundation, and California Rural Legal Assistance, have honed my ability to address complex issues and implement effective solutions.

Additionally, my role as an educator at Peralta Community College has further strengthened my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. By serving on the City Council, I aim to uphold these values and help Lathrop thrive as a community that prioritizes the well-being of its residents while paving the way for a vibrant and promising future.

What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to the City Council:

I bring a rich and diverse set of experiences and perspectives to the City Council, shaped y my professional background in advocacy, public policy, education, and legal assistance an ny personal dedication to fostering equity and inclusion in every aspect of my work My time at the International Rescue Committee equipped me with the skills to navigate complex community needs, advocate for vulnerable populations, and address pressing issues like environmental challenges affecting children's livelihoods. Additionally, my work with the Sierra Healthcare Foundation allowed me to focus on the intersection of public health and community well-being, further strengthening my ability to address multifaceted community challenges.

As a Community Worker at California Rural Legal Assistance, I gained invaluable experience advocating for housing rights and social services, representing clients in administrative hearings, and ensuring their voices were heard in legal and community forums.

This legal background gives me a strong foundation to approach policy and governance with a focus on justice and fairness.

My role as an educator at Peralta Community College has further deepened my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Through my teaching, I have created inclusive environments that amplify marginalized voices and encourage meaningful dialogue. This experience has allowed me to engage with diverse perspectives and build collaborative solutions, which is critical for effective public service.

Combined with my academic achievements in Political Science and Public Administration and my passion for advocating for justice and equity, I bring a well-rounded and community-centered approach to the City Council. My experiences allow me to understand the needs of Lathrop's residents profoundly and ensure that every decision prioritizes their well- being and the city's sustainable growth.
