RECOMMENDATION:
CREATE MOSSDALE COMMUNITY SIDEWALK

AMENDMENT
Adopt Resolution to Approve Creation of
Mossdale Community Sidewalk Repairs, CIP PS
25-5 and Approve Budget Amendment
SUMMARY:
Capital Improvement Project ( CIP) PS 25-5 for Mossdale Community Sidewalk Repairs ( Project) is recommended to remove and replace lifted and broken sidewalk within the Mossdale residential community. The Project scope of work consists of removing damaged sidewalk panels and constructing new 5 feet wide concrete segments. Staff request City Council approve the creation of CIP PS 25-5 for Mossdale Community Sidewalk Repairs to remove tripping hazards and maintain Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA) compliance.
Through the San Joaquin Council of Governments ( SJCOG), the City of Lathrop received $ 123, 097of Measure K Non -Competitive funds for pedestrian improvements that will be used towards design and construction of the Project. The proposed CIP PS 25-5 will also use the available funding from Local Transportation Funds ( LTF) Fiscal Year ( FY) 2024/5pedestrian improvements and the remaining balance from completed project CIP PS 22- 18. Staff is also requesting the approval of a budget amendment to recognize the Measure K funding and transfer the available LTF funds to the CIP Project Fund ( 3310).
BACKGROUND:
The Mossdale residential area was designed with sidewalks and landscaping to provide connectivity throughout the community. Over time, tree roots have lifted the sidewalk and created tripping hazards at several locations. To help prevent injuries caused by tripping, staff proposes to create CIP PS 25-5 to remove and replace the broken and lifted sidewalk panels within the Mossdale community area.
The Project scope of work will consist of site inspections, assessment, demolition and removal of damaged concrete sections and tree roots, installation of root barriers, and construction of 5 feet wide concrete sidewalk to meet ADA standards and slope requirements.
