Las Vegas, Nevada, April 27- 30, 2026, and Approving
Budget Amendment for the ISD Department Budget
SUMMARY:
The Laserfiche Empower Conference takes place every year throughout the United States. This year the event will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference offers three days of technical training, comprehensive classes for all user levels and networking opportunities tailored to records management professionals that utilize the Laserfiche records management system and those that provide technical support for the software.
Participation in the 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference will provide two members of the ISD Department and the City Clerk/ Government Services Director with information on new system updates, security enhancements, product upgrade announcements, hands- on training labs and networking opportunities with industry professionals and technical experts. Staff will be able to take multiple courses customized for their respective areas of responsibility, including advanced classes to build on existing knowledge, special training content that is only available during the conference, and access to new AI features, and demonstrations of the latest updates.
The cost to attend the 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference is estimated at $ 3, 500 per attendee. This estimate includes conference registration, hotel, airfare, transportation, mileage, meals, parking and any other minor incidentals.

Laserfiche is a leading provider specialized in content and records management and business process automation. Laserfiche offers tools for document management, workflow automation, and business process optimization, enabling organizations to digitize paper records, automate repetitive tasks, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining strong data security.

OUT OF STATE TRAVEL FOR 2026 LASERFICHE EMPOWER CONFERENCE Laserfiche provides strong governance tools to meet regulatory requirements, including the automation of agency adopted retention schedules, legal holds, record lifecycle management and policy enforcement to ensure audits and compliance with internal and regulatory procedures.
The 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference is designed for Laserfiche users, experts, and partners to learn, grow, and share ideas. Staff can expect new insights, product announcements, and hands- on training that the ISD and Government Services/ Cty Clerk Department staff need to acquire advanced proficiency in the new software features and functions, enabling them to effectively train other staff members in navigating the system efficiently.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference was included in the Government Services/ Cty Clerk Department adopted training and travel budget for Fiscal Year 2025-6. No additional funds are being requested at this time.
However, a budget amendment is being requested from the General Fund to the ISD training and travel expense budget to cover the cost of travel for two ISD Department staff members. Budget amendment is as follows:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LATHROP AUTHORIZING OUT OF STATE TRAVEL FOR TWO ( 2) INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT ( ISD) STAFF MEMBERS AND ONE ( 1) GOVERNMENT SERVICES DIRECTOR/ CIY CLERK DEPARTMENT STAFF MEMBER TO ATTEND THE 2026 LASERFICHE EMPOWER CONFERENCE IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 27- 30, 2026, AND APPROVING A BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR THE ISD DEPARTMENT BUDGET
WHEREAS, Laserfiche is a leading provider specializing in content management and business process automation. It offers tools for document management, workflow automation, and business process optimization, enabling organizations to digitize paper records, automate repetitive tasks, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining strong data security; and WHEREAS, 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference will provide two members of the ISD Department and the Government Services Director/ City Clerk Department with information on new system updates, security enhancements, product upgrade announcements, hands- on training labs and networking opportunities with industry professionals and technical experts; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference will be hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 27th through the 30th, 2026; and WHEREAS, the cost to attend this conference was included in the Government Services/ Cty Clerk Department adopted training and travel budget for Fiscal Year 2025-6, therefore no additional funds are being requested at this time; and WHEREAS, a budget amendment is being requested from the General Fund to the ISD training and travel expense budget to cover the cost of travel for two ISD Department staff members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lathrop hereby approve out of state travel for two ( 2) ISD staff and one ( 1) Government Services Director/ City Clerk Department staff member to attend the 2026 Laserfiche Empower Conference, in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 27- 30, 2026; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lathrop hereby approves a budget amendment in the amount of $ 7, 000 to the ISD Department training and travel budget expense account, Fund 1010-7- 20- 435-
