Hi I am Kelvin I have been a rider at Lathrop Transit for over a Year! I have taken it to school and even to ACE in the summer! I fully support the to add more van and expand service hours to 3:30 to 8 pm The DAR has been working well the only complain is that the APP is like a joke that you should never book a ride from there. But the fixed route is also not the best and need major improvement
Stop spacing
This is from VTA in San Jose Showing how should the stop spacing be.
Then why are we having bus stops like a mile apart. Are we light rail are we bus rapid transit? NO! Plus will anyone like to walk a mile to a bus stop no! Schedules planning
I question whoever that decided that:
1. LHS dismiss at 3:32 and you telling me the bus leave at 3:35 at Gen center . Gladly Your contractor listened to my request to leave at 3:40 at the earliest
2. 13 minutes to travel a mile ? You could even run faster than that.
3. We arrive LHS too early
Let us a example with a Road with similar Road condition as Lathrop (1 mile distance In Manteca transit Empire Ave at Louise Ave-> Main and Lousie takes 5 min with 2 stop in between
Another from Rtd from Benjaman holt road to mall transfer (1 mile distance) Local (540) Scheduled time is 9 min 2 stop in between
Limited (40) Scheduled time is 6 min nonstop
Another example is from Canada let’s use a section between Surrey central to Guildford TC in Surrey BC (Distance of 3.4km or 2 mile )
Nonstop ( Route 337/509) Scheduled time is 8 min
Limited stop (501/R1) Scheduled time 14 min 4 stop in between Local stop (320) Scheduled time 14 min 12 stop in between To make it even more ironic that road always gets jammed So explain to me how our road will cause so much delays that we need 13 minute to travel a mile.
To Fix this I propose major change to our our school trip Schedule Part of this
Currently there 2 bus used for the school tripper Now thank to your contractor telling me that there is supposed to be 2 for fixed route and 2 for DAR at the peak. So my concept is that Since there is already a bus dropping off/ ace rider at ace station. Why not we use the same bus for Route C. Of course the flaw is that we will only have 1 bus for DAR for 30-40 minutes before/after school but its worth it because it will save Route C rider 10-15 minutes one way instead of combining it with Route B Plus at the same time we could also increase coverage on the west side of Lathrop Stop Addition
Instead of the bus stop sign we could use flag stop, basically a bus stop with no sign. We pinpoint location for bus stop in our gtfs data (Aka what we use as and we board at like stop sign , unused bus curb or whatever.
With this plan excluding the entire river island most to all student will be less than 0.6 mile away from a bus stop (With some exception of 0.7 near the HS ) List of bus stop
