A. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Mayor Pullen-Miles called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber, 14717 Burin Avenue, Lawndale, California.
Councilmembers Present: Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles, Councilmember Bernadette Suarez, Councilmember Pat Kearney, Councilmember Sirley Cuevas
Councilmembers Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Rhonda Hofmann Gorman Other Participants: City Manager Sean M. Moore, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Acting Captain Monica Botello, Sergeant Ricky Osburn, Municipal Services Director Michael Reyes, Acting Assistant City Clerk Raylette Felton.
B. CEREMONIALS
Councilmember Sirley Cuevas led the flag salute.
C. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Deena, Resident, spoke about illegal fireworks concerns and the suppression plan during the 4th of July holiday and commented City Council meetings should be posted on Social Media.
Randal Abram, Resident, spoke about illegal fireworks concerns and the suppression plan activities over the 4th of July holiday.
D. COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL
No comments from City Council.
E. ADMINISTRATION
1. Discussion between City Officials and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Officials Regarding Matters of Mutual Concern
City Manager Sean M. Moore commented no follow-up items from the previous meeting with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The City Council, Acting Captain Monica Botello, Sergeant Ricky Osburn and City Manager Sean M. Moore discussed the following:
• The events and effects during the 4th of July fireworks suppression plan o Number of calls for service and citations issued
o Number of undercover vehicles assigned to the City on 4th of July o Number of undercover deputies on foot patrol during fireworks suppression plan and safety of deputies
o Issuance of citations and administrative citation ordinance policy Minutes - City Council Special Meeting
July 12, 2022
• Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department contract and staffing • Status of the Lawndale Sheriff’s Service Center signage, repairs and flag replacement F. CITY MANAGER REPORT
City Manager Sean M. Moore thanked the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and City staff for work and efforts during the 4th of July holiday.
