Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
As a flight instructor and hangar resident I feel I can offer a unique perspective on the interests of the airport community and the relationship to the broader community. I would like to see better public education of the benefits the airport offers to our community and to help clear up much of the misinformation many community members have about how we operate.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your interpretation of the purpose of this Advisory Body. To learn more you may visit the website found here:https://www.livermoreca.gov/departments/city- clerk/advisory-bodies, then click the link on the left hand side and chose the Advisory Body you are interested in (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
The Advisory Body exists to serve the City Council on future development, promotes the Airport as an economic development tool and disaster recovery facility that benefits the Tri-Valley, and to advise the Airport staff on matters of safety, operational considerations, and noise abatement procedures, among other things.

12 Question applies to multiple boards
Review the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan (You may review them here:
https://www.livermoreca.gov/government/city-council/five-year-strategic-plan ) Briefly describe how you anticipate this Advisory Body will assist the City Council in implementing the plan. (If you are applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I feel the Airport Commission could be valuable in assisting the City Council in several key areas. 1.

Economic, educational, and social benefits to the city through such proposals of new educational facilities at the airport linked to Las Positas College. 2. Disaster preparedness. If a major disaster occurs, the airport will be a key driver of relief efforts to our community. 3. Environmental Stewardship. Livermore Airport should be a leader in sustainability, through encouragement of transition to alternative fuels, to more solar projects on the airport, and beyond. The next 25 years will see a rapid change in air transportation and our airport should be a model for smaller airports to emulate.

Question applies to multiple boards
Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I don't have any expectations other than learning as much as I can about what is going well, and how I can best serve the Advisory Board. I hope my perspective as a daily user of the airport as a flight instructor can bring insight into how we can engage the pilot community to support the current and future goals of the airport and change some hearts and minds of those that don't see what an asset it is to our broader community.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
It is my hope that the Advisory Board can assist the City with the implementation of some of the new proposed development projects and further development of better noise abatement implementation through better signage and pilot education. It is also my feeling that we can do a better job of educating the public about how pilots enter and use the traffic pattern, and what is and is not actually happening at the airport. There is so much misinformation in the broader community and the NIMBY's are controlling the narrative. We can change this.

What issues are of greatest interest to you and how would you see them addressed by Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission?
Honestly I am not familiar with the Youth Advisory Commission, but youth engagement is vital to our society. As a former music educator and current flight instructor I have spent over 25 years engaging with young people. I am currently active with our local EAA Chapter 663 at the airport, where we offer scholarships for young future aviators, first flights for youth through Young Eagles, and are currently building an aircraft with local kids interested in aerospace. You can find more information about these programs at https://www.eaa663.org/young-aviators.html I would love to find more ways to get young people involved at the airport.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
After serving for ~1 year on the HSC (completing a partial term), I'd like to continue my service. And previously, I was a Livermore arts commissioner. I've enjoyed both experiences. Also, I am a volunteer in the human services space; I am passionate about this work and I'm proud to serve on this advisory body and help better assess & address basic needs.

I understand that this advisory body is a forum for discussing social and human service needs in Livermore -- supporting the work completed by local service agencies; submitting an annual report to City Council; advising on solutions to community needs; and recommending grant funds for nonprofits that provide services to low-income, senior, homeless, veteran & disabled neighbors. I see the grant priorities are public health, housing, homelessness, and safety net access.

16 Question applies to multiple boards
Review the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan (You may review them here:
https://www.livermoreca.gov/government/city-council/five-year-strategic-plan ) Briefly describe how you anticipate this Advisory Body will assist the City Council in implementing the plan. (If you are applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I anticipate this AB will assist the City Council in implementing these Goals and Priorities: "Homelessness and Affordable Housing" - Establish a homelessness strategy, engaging local partners to develop a coordinated response, and expand diversity of affordable housing opportunities. Also "Modernization, Training and Workplace Enhancements" - Develop a systematic approach to modernizing the City's aging business systems, reviewing processes for alignment with industry best practices, and providing our workforce with tools & training necessary to effectively deliver services to the community. It is clear that housing is a big focus, and housing needs are still great; as an AB, we can amplify this message/need.

Also, there is strength in our commissioners/membership -- e.g., I work at and serve as a volunteer-leader at Las Positas College, our local community college, and we [and our CC District's Tri Valley Career Center] offer many opportunities for workforce development free of cost, including noncredit & apprenticeship programs; and support other basic needs via a mini market (daily free food for students), free professional attire for students (LAEP), and a monthly pop-up drive-thru food pantry "The Market" (open to all); and I help market and assist at LPC Veterans events (open to the community). LPC serves neighbors who are unhoused, foster youth, seniors, and veterans. There is potential for greater collaboration there.

Question applies to multiple boards
Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
As a member of this AB, I expect to do the following: Serve on this advisory body on social conditions and make recommendations to City Council in the community (esp. low-income neighbors); advise Council on social needs that affect the delivery of human services and unmet needs; and advise Council on expenditure of funding from the US Dept of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), incl. the Community Devel. Block Grant Program & HOME Investment partnership. Embedded in these expectations/contributions is reviewing/rating HSC grant applications submitted by service providers.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
It is my hope that we can increase awareness of human services issues and better connect our unhoused and food-insecure neighbors with resources via our partnerships with and grant-funding of local human services agencies/nonprofits.

What issues are of greatest interest to you and how would you see them addressed by Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission?
The question states, "What issues are of greatest interest to you and how would you see them addressed by Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission?" This does not seem to apply to me as stated. But if it's meant to be "commission" more generally, here: Ever since I was a kid, I have enjoyed helping others / neighbors in need, and I have never stopped lending a helping hand since K-12. Also, I'm rallying a new generation to take part as well (my own children & my 4-H'ers)! What else would you like the City Council to know about you? I anticipate that the airport commission will continue to advocate for improvements to the airport that keep it much like it is now, a "small town" airport that is excellent for general aviation, flight training and local corporate aviation needs. Also for improvements that increase the ability of the airport to be useful from an emergency and public service standpoint. On the other hand, due to continued noise complaints, I also anticipate that the airport commission will continue to discourage addition noise sensitive residential development within the Airport Protection Area.

Working with the community's that face the most disparities resonates strongly for me. I have lived experience as well as powerful success that would help me navigate and bridge the gaps with this sensitive population. I feel my career experience as a director of community programs, peer support specialist, and outreach navigator gives me an understanding that could strongly add to an already sterling and diverse advisory board.

To aid in the implementation of Livermore's Strategic Plan as a member of the advisory board, I will consider the following actions: 1. **Understanding the Plan:** Thoroughly familiarize myself with the Strategic Plan, including its community pillars, goals, and objectives. This will enable me to provide informed input and suggestions. 2. **Aligning Recommendations:** Ensure that any recommendations or advice I provide align with the goals and objectives outlined in the plan. My role is to support and enhance the plan's implementation, not deviate from it. 3. **Regular Monitoring:** I plan to stay updated on the progress of the plan's implementation by reviewing reports and updates provided by the responsible departments. This will help me identify areas where my advisory input could be valuable. 4. **Community Engagement:** Facilitate community engagement and input into the plan's execution. Gather feedback and suggestions from the community and present them to the advisory board for consideration. 5. **Resource Allocation:** Assist in making informed decisions regarding resource allocation. Help prioritize projects and initiatives that align with the plan's goals and long-term fiscal sustainability. 6. **Advocacy and Communication:** Advocate for the Strategic Plan's importance within the community and among stakeholders. Communicate its value and impact to ensure continued support. 7. **Collaboration:** Collaborate with other advisory board members and relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to plan implementation. 8. **Evaluation and Feedback:** Continuously evaluate the progress of the plan and provide feedback on what's working well and what may need adjustment. Be open to adapting strategies as needed. 9. **Transparency:** Promote transparency by encouraging regular reporting on the plan's progress to the City Council and the community. 10. **Expertise:** because I have vast expertise in working with the population experience housing insecurities my insight becomes broadly relevant to the plan (e.g., sustainability, finance, community development), I offer my specialized knowledge to enhance decision-making. I believe my role on the advisory board is to act as a valuable resource and advocate for the successful execution of the Strategic Plan, ensuring it reflects the community's values and contributes to the city's long-term vision.

32 Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
My expectations for the Housing Commission Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes include: 1. **Affordable Housing Initiatives:** Expectations of progress in developing and implementing affordable housing programs and policies to address housing affordability challenges in the community. We have a population of homeless that cause incampment litter In some of most beautiful natural spaces. I'd like to reclaim these space for the safety of our children and the our community. I believe forming an initiative were we can offer day labor stipend's to the homeless for litter pick up etc. This also creates a first step towards self-sufficiency. There are similar programs in other cities that have yielded successful results .

I'm looking to bridge the gaps in how we can help the poor in our community by giving them the ability to show up. We're giving this money anyway through bus passes food etc.... Most homeless can't afford to even get to where are resources are for them. This lowers crime in the area and also meets this population where there at. In the urgency of daily needs. 2. **Housing Policy Recommendations:** Anticipate the advisory body to provide well-informed recommendations on housing-related policies and strategies that align with the city's goals. 3. **Community Engagement:** Expect efforts to engage the community, gather input, and ensure that housing decisions are inclusive and responsive to residents' needs. 4. **Addressing Homelessness:** Outcomes related to addressing homelessness issues, including strategies for shelter, support services, and housing for those experiencing homelessness. 5. **Housing Equity:** Expect a focus on promoting equity in housing, including initiatives to reduce housing disparities and improve access to safe and stable housing for all residents. 6. **Data and Reporting:** The advisory body should provide data-driven insights and regular progress reports on housing-related matters to inform decision-makers and the public. 7. **Collaboration:** Outcomes should reflect collaboration with other stakeholders, such as local government agencies, nonprofits, and developers, to advance housing solutions. 8. **Advocacy:** Expectations of advocating for funding and resources to support housing programs and projects that align with the commission's goals. 9. **Policy Impact:** Anticipate that the advisory body's work will have a meaningful impact on local housing policies and practices, that lead to improved housing conditions in Livermore. 10. **Transparency:** Outcomes should include transparent communication about the commission's activities, achievements, and challenges to build trust with the community. I believe my expectations reflect the overarching goals of the Housing Commission Advisory Body to address housing-related issues comprehensively and effectively within our community.

What issues are of greatest interest to you and how would you see them addressed by Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission?
Youth Safety: Promoting safety awareness and initiatives, such as anti-bullying campaigns, safe recreational spaces, and community policing, is vital. Social media bullying has been spilling over since children were stunted in community growth during the pandemic. I believe creating a team to intercede in the community as a response to stop violence is necessary. There has been a spike in fights as well as self-harm. Whether it be through overdosing or suicide the depression and isolation is a silent killer. The youth community needs more light shed on it. I believe that just having one police officer is inadequate I believe that having only one school liaison is just too much for one officer to handle. I also feel that criminalizing as reaction means we waited too long as adults to respond. Instead teaching social skills creating supportive kindness culture for the youth should be broadened. Ben's Bells is an award system used in many other communities to award better behaviors. This system awards youth. This is just one possible approach . I'd like to see a call of action from our youth commission. I believe a focus group's could be a step in the right direction to gaining strategy in this area. I'd like to bring this to the agenda.

What issues are of greatest interest to you and how would you see them addressed by Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission?
I raised two boys in the Livermore Community and was on several boards. Getting the youth more involved in the community would show more appreciation on where they live. Like cleaning up graffiti, mentoring a youth in need.

What else would you like the City Council to know about you? If you would like to provide additional information (resume, personal website, etc.) please use the Upload Resume button.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I've been a renter and a homeowner, both, in the Tri-Valley Area. I deeply feel the blessing of having a consistent roof over one's head and the crucial role it plays toward keeping families integrated and raising children in a stable environment. If allowed an opportunity to serve, I'm excited to learn how the Livermore Housing Authority (LHA) works at the grassroots to help administer various Federal and State Government's low-income housing programs and initiatives. I am excited to learn how the LHA partners with other public and private agencies to further and actualize its goal of enabling access to public and affordable housing to at-risk individuals and families. I am also very keen to learn about the public outreach programs the LHA is currently running toward protecting the rights of tenants and landlords in Livermore's. I am curious to learn what role, if any, the Livermore Housing Authority plays in facilitating public access to official sources of information related to affordable and public housing programs and policies.

As I understand, the role of the Livermore Housing Authority (LHA) lies at the foundation of various Government programs and initiatives, including the federally-funded Housing Choice Voucher Program Section 8. Being a grassroot-level Government agency, the LHA plays a very important role in advising the City Council of Livermore on public policy relating to housing and inclusion, and also by helping the City Government in mobilizing their housing related resources to at-risk individuals and families - specifically, at-risk elders, disproportionately-burdened single parents, and the differently-abled - for whom the various affordable and public housing programs are designed.

Goals 7 to 9 the City of Livermore's Citywide Strategic Plan (2023-2028) directly and explicitly relate to public access to and inclusion in housing in Livermore. Because the Livermore Housing Authority is, literally, the gatekeeper to various Government-sponsored housing vouchers and housing subsidies in Livermore, it must leverage from its presence as a grassroot-level public agency as well as from its partnerships with other local bodies to advise the City Council of Livermore and facilitate the City of Livermore in achieving Goals 7 to 9 of the Citywide Strategic Plan.

Question applies to multiple boards
Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
Studies and statistics indicate that high and unaffordable rents are often precursors to homelessness - a state of being, sometimes so chronic, that it leads to disintegration of the family unit. When families disintegrate, children suffer the most. As a member of the Livermore Housing Authority (LHA), I would like to dedicate my energy toward pushing for policies that make rents affordable and housing accessible to especially the most vulnerable among us - women, single mothers, differently-abled, and elders. I would like to proactively endorse policies that give a fair opportunity of home-ownership and equitable access to housing to all, particularly to those individuals (for example, teachers and first-responders) who daily commute long hours to come to work at Livermore's various big and small businesses for jobs that do not pay them adequately to sustain in the Bay Area's continuously skyrocketing cost of living. In past years, the City Council of Livermore has faced enormous resistance, including costly litigation and mass signature petition for a potential referendum, from some in the community who oppose public and affordable housing developments because they do not want to share their neighborhoods and prime commercial space (the Downtown) with low-income individuals and families. If allowed an opportunity to serve, I will push for the Livermore Housing Authority to leverage on its resources to disseminate accurate and official sources to community members and citizens, so that they can make informed voting choices with regards to all equity and inclusion initiatives that address housing insecurity in our City. Last, I also expect to use my background in law to read and interpret housing statutes and policies in a manner that furthers the goals and objectives of the LHA and the City of Livermore's Citywide Strategic Plan (2023- 2028).

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
Being a Livermore resident for the past seven plus years, I already see a lot of positive change in the process. The City of Livermore's past recognition as the 2021 All-America City reflects very positively on the collaborative role that our City's grassroots-level agencies, such as the Livermore Housing Authority (LHA), play to enable and support the City's various equity and inclusion initiatives. As a housing advocate, my biggest moral boost, lately, has been to see the City of Livermore prevail in courts of law (third-party) in unreasonable lawsuits filed to thwart their crucial and high-stake housing projects like the Eden Downtown Housing Project. It is my expectation that LHA's decisions and public outreach programs should be consistent with, and in furtherance of, the goals and vision of our current General Plan and the Citywide Strategic Plan (2023-2028). It is also my expectation that the LHA leverages on its position to engage variously with the community - for instance, encouraging community members to participate in and bring their questions and concerns to the monthly public meetings; creating more creative channels to filter correct and accurate sources of information that our community members should have access to, so that they can make informed and better choices as voters and stakeholders, etc.

Goal 8 of the City of Livermore's Citywide Strategic Plan (2023-2028) directly and explicitly sets out the expectations that City Council of Livermore's has the Human Services Commission (the "Commission").

The Commission should, at all times, strive for the greater common good. Being a grassroot-level Government agency and in furtherance of the Livermore Citywide Strategic Plan (2023-2028), the Commission should play a proactive role in advising the City Council of Livermore on public policy relating to access human services, and on ways to obtain more funding and grants, and on how to enable the most optimal public and private partnerships to strengthen and support access of community members to human services.

Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
Studies and statistics indicate that a high cost of living is the most inevitable precursor to a poor and unstable quality of life, and to the most vulnerable among us falling through the cracks. As a member of the Human Services Commission (the "Commission"), I would like to dedicate my energy toward pushing for policies that make housing services affordable and housing accessible, specifically to the most vulnerable and typically marginalized among us - elders, disproportionately-burdened parents, and the differently-abled.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I reckon the Goodness Village at the CrossWinds Church and the launch of the 19,000 square feet Open Heart Food Bank facility as among the City of Livermore's greatest success stories in providing access to human services. Our City has done very well and I feel very proud as a citizen and stakeholder. My expectation from the Human Services Commission (the "Commission") is to advise the City Council of Livermore on ways to incentivize our private community partners and to establish the best practices in disbursing precious grants and resources for our community in Livermore. My hope and expectation is that Livermore leads other Bay Area cities in creating and sustaining the best model of governance when it comes to helping, capacity-building, and empowering our residents and business providers with access to human services.

Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I'm interested in serving on the Human Services Commission for the City of Livermore, CA advisory board because I have a strong passion for making a positive impact on our community. Specifically, I'm deeply committed to improving the lives of children and families in our city. Over the years, I've witnessed the importance of accessible and effective human services in supporting vulnerable populations. I believe that by serving on this commission, I can actively contribute to creating a better quality of life for residents, particularly children who are often the most affected by the decisions made in our community. My previous experience as SJC Airport Commissioner has provided me with valuable insights into the needs of our community members and how we can address these needs through various programs and initiatives. I am enthusiastic about collaborating with other commission members, local organizations, and government agencies to develop and implement strategies that enhance the overall well-being of Livermore's residents. In summary, my interest in serving on the Human Services Commission is driven by a genuine desire to make Livermore a more inclusive and supportive place for all its residents, with a particular focus on the well-being of children. I am eager to contribute my time, skills, and dedication to this important mission.

February 2018 to March 2020 I missed very few meeting between those dates.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I was continuously homeless in Livermore and the Livermore vicinity for 6 years 9 months (10/1/2015 to 6/21/2022). I survived 27 months of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic while homeless. While homeless I attended most Human Services Commission meetings from February 2018 to March of 2020 before the pandemic lock down. I spoke on homelessness at the City of Livermore City Council meetings at the Community Forum from late September 2017 to early March 2020. I missed two of those meetings in between.

A lot of the purpose of the Human Services Commission seemed to me to be to distribute grant monies to various groups. This seems a logistical challenge given the limit to the funding.

Review the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan (You may review them here:

If one of the City of Livermore's goals is diversity, I ask: "How many that have been on the Human Services Commission have been homeless?"

Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
The Human Services Commission and the attendant organizations need to realize that there needs to be a change to the approach of fundamentally solving homelessness and the housing crisis.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I have to have an open mind here. To set expectations or outcomes is not having an open mind. The current approach to homeless is not fundamentally solving the problem. Far too many resources are going to far too few. I strive to have an open mind. Do you all? What else would you like the City Council to know about you? https://www.livermoreca.gov/government/city-council/five-year-strategic-plan ) Briefly describe how you anticipate this Advisory Body will assist the City Council in implementing the plan. (If you are applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
The Human Services Commission advisory board will certainly contribute to goals seven and eight for the "Safe Community" pillar in terms of better housing and coordinating support with non profits. In addition, the "Economy that Prospers" pillar goals two and three by implementation of supporting business growth .

We should also consider a training programs for our potential community labors needing skills for certain jobs for the businesses that operate in Livermore. Finally for the pillar "A City that Works", goal four to work with other agencies from other levels of government. In addition the media to promote what has been accomplished so far in Livermore. My observation compared to other nearby cities we have done improvements for homelessness. One example is the tiny home units at Goodness Village; certainly Livermore supported this project and could do more to promote these improvements publicly.

My expectation is to serve the community by action and hopefully produce results that improve those which economically challenged in our community

Similar to my expectations, to make a difference for those who are struggling economically and provide more opportunity and security for Livermore community. The goal would be a to make it well balance environment for all residents.

Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I am passionate about public service and am seeking opportunities to contribute to my local community. I have extensive history working in disability services prior to attending law school, which provides me some familiarity with human services related issues. I believe my work and education history would be an asset to the Commission while providing me opportunities for growth and greater connectivity to the Livermore community.

The Human Services Commission advises the City Council on social services and need in the local community by receiving assessments of those needs from city staff and other local NGO agencies. The Commission works with agencies and grantees to develop and evaluate strategies for addressing social needs in the community. The Commission also serves as a venue for residents to discuss issues affecting social conditions in the Livermore community.

One of the Community Pillars of the Five Year Strategic Plan is supporting a Safe Community that Thrives. This Pillar includes several goals, including Goal 8, Expand and Improve Access to Human Services, which connects directly to the work of the Human Services Commission. Among other goals, including those in other Pillars such as the Economy That Prospers Pillar, implementation will be helped by the Human Services Commission through its planning and direct action toward accomplishing the objectives of the goals. For example, the Human Services Commission plays a leading role in taking on Objective #1 in Goal 8 of the Safe Community that Thrives Pillar by working with organizations to ensure Livermore's residents have access to needed services. Other Pillars may implicate the work of the Human Services Commission to the extent the Commission's work can supports the goals. For example, the Human Services Commission's work affects the Economy That Prospers Pillar by providing residents the services often necessary to transition into wage-earning work.

Question applies to multiple boards
Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I expect to be among intelligent and dedicated commissioners and city staff who believe in and advocate on behalf of the importance of human services to city residents. I believe my education and background will allow me to contribute thoughtful and analytical participation that will look at the whole of all issues to problem-solve. I look forward to engaging with other Commission members, city staff, community members, and representatives from organizations to learn and understand the issues affecting social need in Livermore. To that end, I will further contribute with patience, attention, and collaboration with the many stakeholders who support the work of the Human Services Commission.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I expect the Human Services Commission's accomplishments or outcomes relate to its ability to support work that meets social needs of Livermore's residents, whether that include housing, hunger, mental health, and other basic needs supports. The Human Service Commission's work is successful when it leads to real tangible impacts on the ground that improve the social conditions and wellbeing of those who most need and rely upon city or other government services. My contributions to the Commission will be most gratifying when Livermore's residents who are in the most need receive the supports necessary to sustain their wellbeing and improve their lives.

The Human Services Commission helps make decisions regarding the distribution of grants. It is the responsibility of HSC members to become knowledgeable about local non-profit organization both to help make good decisions about the use of limited financial resources but also to help the community understand what our local nonprofits are providing to our communities.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Advisory Body(s) you have selected. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
I am an active member in the nonprofit community and see first-hand all the incredible work our community does to help those in need. I have seen the HSC evolve over the years and I want to continue to work on the Commission to ensure that our providers and community members have the resources and support that they need to succeed. One of my main goals is to ensure that the now depleted SOE funds are replenished and that a long-term funding solution is found so that we can continue to fund essential services. I would also like to see the grant cycle to move from 1 year to 2 (+) years. A grant cycle that is more than 1 year will be a huge benefit for our providers as well as free up City staff. This would also allow the HSC to do more community outreach throughout the year to hear what is working and what is not working in our community.

As a member of the HSC our mission is to advise City Council of the needs in our community. We do this by working with City Staff to identify human service needs in the community, work on solutions and then report these finding to City Council. One of the large tasks the HSC has is to review and score the grant applications for CDBG, HOME and other grants. These recommendations are then presented to Council for approval. The HSC also reaches out to the community to understand their concerns about issues such as housing, food scarcity and other human service needs so that we can work with staff and advise Council on the problems and solutions.

In the Strategic Plan one of the main overall themes is safety and quality of life. All of our residents have the right to feel safe in Livermore. Our service providers play a big role in keeping our community safe.

They provide housing, food, counseling, homeless services and they do this all when their clients are in crisis. The HSC can listen to our providers to understand what kind of support they need and listen to our residents when they see a hole in our safety nets. HSC can work with staff to present solutions to Council.

For instance, the HSC found a couple of years ago that ESL residents struggled to get services because of language barriers. This information was given to Council and now the City has made an effort to provide information in other languages, especially Spanish. This information came from the HSC doing outreach to the public.

Question applies to multiple boards
Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
As a member of the HSC I know how important it is to attend the monthly meetings. If we don't have quorum, then our work is halted for a month. I also always put aside the time to carefully review the grant applications and score them. As a community member that works with a large number of nonprofits I will continue to listen to their concerns as well as the concerns of their clients. I think it is so important that we listen to our community about their concerns and help find solutions.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
There are 3 areas where I think the HSC can improve. As mentioned above we need to find a long-term solution to the SOE funding. This money is crucial to our community. Secondly, we need to move away from 1-year grants and allow providers to apply for multiple year grants. And lastly, with the Tri-City Needs Assessment report coming out soon it is imperative that HSC finds ways to work with the other 2 cities to meet the goals of the report and reduce poverty in our area. The three cities need to come together and find innovative solutions so that all of our community members feel safe and secure.

I have worked in the human services field in the Tri-Valley for the past 13 years at Axis Community Health. In my development role, I worked on grants, community data, city/county/state/federal contracts, community outreach, and coordination of services with fellow providers. I am recently retired from my role as Chief Development Officer (July 31). The Human Services Advisory Body provides ongoing review of the needs of vulnerable populations, creating strategies that address those needs, and provides input to elected officials. More specifically, the HS Commission looks at the utilization of the MSC, oversees the utilization of social services funding and makes recommendations to City Council on funding use and successful strategies. The HSC is the central removing barriers to accessing services and collaborating with area providers. This work helps to sustain people from falling into poverty and it support the missions of area non-profit agencies.

The HSC is central to goals 6-9, ensuring access to housing and human services for all community members. It is the role of the HSC to promote and facilitate accessibility to all needed resources for vulnerable citizens, and to understand the barriers that differing community members face when seeking basic human needs, such as housing, food, and medical care--and services that support access to these needs (e.g., transportation, language assistance). The HSC conducts needs assessments, reviews data on service utilization, and seeks out innovative strategies that all support these goals.

Describe your expectations and anticipated contributions as a member of this Advisory Body. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
My expectation and anticipated contribution as a member of the HSC is that I will utilize the knowledge and experience I have gained during my work in the safety net services to work collaboratively with other commissioners to find productive and effective ways of addressing the needs of our city's vulnerable populations. I have extensive experience on non-profit boards, working with government entities, and serving on committees/councils. I believe I can make constructive contributions to the work of the commission in achieving its objectives and goals, communicating with stakeholders, and advocating for community members in need of services.

Question applies to multiple boards
Briefly describe your expectations of this Advisory Body's accomplishments or outcomes. (If applying for more than one Advisory Body, please include a response for each Advisory Body.)
My expectations are that the HSC will carry out its proscribed duties to address housing needs, human services grant making that addresses priority needs, as well as addressing specific needs of the city's unhoused population. I expect the HSC will continue to provide support to our elected officials and work collaboratively with city staff and area non-profit providers. The HSC is in the midst of an updated Needs Assessment which I think will be pivotal to the work of the HSC in coming years.
