An Informal Informational Meeting ("Shirtsleeve" Session) of the Lodi City Council was held Tuesday, June 21, 2022, commencing at 7:00 a.m.
Present: Council Member Khan, Council Member Kuehne, Council Member Nakanishi, and Mayor Pro Tempore Hothi
Absent: Mayor Chandler

Receive Update on Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Authority (PW) Water Plant Superintendent Travis Kahrs provided a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Authority update. Specific topics of discussion included background, past Council actions, goal of SGMA, Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) chapters, updated timeline, potential deficiencies and responses, and next steps.
Discussion ensued with Council Member Kuehne, Council Member Nakanishi, Water Plant Superintendent Kahrs, and City Attorney Magdich regarding the number of agencies within the Joint Powers Agreement of the Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Authority, the timeline of adoption of amendments to the groundwater sustainability plan, overdrafting of groundwater, possibility of groundwater recharge, and demand of groundwater to support services within the City.
