SUBJECT: Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance No. 863 (Zoning Updates Relative to the General Plan Update)
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 863 amending various sections of Lomita Municipal Code Title XI (Planning and Zoning), Chapter 1 (Zoning) to adopt Zoning Text Amendment No. 2024- 05 and Zoning Map Amendment No. 2024-02 to implement the policies and programs of the certified City of Lomita 2021-2029 Housing Element consistent with Final Program Environmental Impact Report No. 2024-01 in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act.
BACKGROUND
At the October 1, 2024, City Council meeting, the Council adopted Resolution No. 2024- 32, certifying a Final Program General Plan Update Environmental Impact Report and General Plan Update, and held the public hearing for the adoption of Ordinance No. 863 for the corollary zoning map and text amendments to implement policies and programs of the certified City of Lomita 2021-2029 Housing Element. By a 5-0 vote, the Council approved the General Plan Update and directed staff to bring back the ordinance on second reading.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no financial implications resulting from this recommendation.
OPTIONS
1. Approve the attached ordinance as recommended.
2. Deny the proposed zoning map and text amendments.
