SUBJECT: Discussion and Consideration of an Appointment to fill an Unscheduled Vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission
RECOMMENDATION
Review list of previously interviewed applicants and make a decision to appoint a commissioner to fill the vacancy.
BACKGROUND
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Lindsey Colbert submitted her resignation from the commission. A special vacancy notice was posted as required by Government Code 54974 on September 25. Earlier this year in June, the Council interviewed candidates for open positions on the Planning, Public Safety Traffic, and Parks and Recreation Commissions. Of the list of applicants Christina De Leon, George Kivett, and Kyle Wade expressed interest in serving on the commission.
As no other applications have been received from the posting of the vacancy notice, staff recommends that the Council review the list and make an appointment of a commissioner to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission for the remainder of the term which ends June 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no financial implications resulting from this recommendation.
