SUBJECT: Second Reading of an Ordinance Approving Zoning Text Amendment No. 2024-06 Updating the Lomita Municipal Code Relating to Accessory Dwelling Units and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units to Comply with Recent Changes in State Law
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 866 and direct the City Clerk to file a copy of the Ordinance with the State Department of Housing and Community Development.
BACKGROUND
At the December 3, 2024, Regular City Council meeting, the City Council introduced on first reading, and held the public hearing in regards to, the attached ordinance to comply with Assembly Bill (AB) 2533 and Senate Bill (SB) 1211. It also adopted Urgency Ordinance No. 865 which took effect immediately upon its adoption. A non-urgency ordinance may not be adopted at the same meeting at which it is introduced.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no financial implications resulting from this recommendation.
OPTIONS
1. Adopt the attached ordinance.
2. Do not adopt the ordinance.
3. Modify the ordinance and set a date for adoption.
4. Provide staff with further direction.
