1. OPENING CEREMONIES
a. Call Meeting to Order
The special meeting of the Lomita City Council was called to order by Mayor Waronek at 5:01 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 24300 Narbonne Avenue, Lomita, California.
b. Roll Call
PRESENT: Councilmember: Gazeley, Uphoff, Waite, Mayor Pro Tem Segawa, and Mayor Waronek
ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Vialpando and City Attorney Rusin
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
There were no requests to speak during oral communications.
3. RECESS TO CLOSED SESSION - COMMISSION CONFERENCE ROOM a. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - INITIATION OF LITIGATION Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(4) - Based on existing facts and circumstances, the legislative body of the local agency has decided to initiate or is deciding whether to initiate litigation.
Number of Potential Cases: One case
4. RECONVENE OPEN SESSION - COUNCIL CHAMBERS
a. CLOSED SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT
City Attorney Rusin stated that the City Council met in open session at 5:01 p.m., there being no persons present wishing to speak, the Council recessed to closed session. The Council authorized the City Attorney to initiate a legal action by a vote of 4-0 (councilmember Gazeley recused). The action, the defendants, and other particulars shall, once formally commenced, be disclosed to any person upon inquiry, unless to do so would jeopardize the City's ability to effectuate service of process on one or more unserved parties, or that to do so would jeopardize the City's ability to conclude existing settlement negotiations to its advantage.
