RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 874, an Ordinance Revising the Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map in the City of Lomita.
BACKGROUND
At the June 17, 2025, regular City Council meeting, the Council held the first reading to consider the adoption of this ordinance for a revised Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map, dated March 24, 2025, (Exhibit A) as identified by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). Two Council meetings are required when adopting an ordinance. This Ordinance complies with the State Fire Marshal’s request and recommendation as mandated by Government Code Section 51178 to identify levels of fire hazard based on consistent statewide criteria and the expected severity of fire hazards in the City of Lomita.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no financial implications resulting from this recommendation.
