SUBJECT: Construction Services Agreement with Signergy for the Lomita Park Marquee Sign Replacement Project
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a Construction Services Agreement to Signergy for the manufacture and installation of the Lomita Park Marquee Sign in the amount of $69,595 plus $3,230 for removal of existing sign for a total of $72,825 with an additional contingency of $2,175 for a total construction budget not to exceed $75,000; appropriate $75,000 from the Park Equipment Replacement Fund and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement.
BACKGROUND
The Lomita Park monument sign, located outside of the Tom Rico Center at 24424 Eshelman Avenue, has been in service for over 40 years. The existing sign has experienced significant deterioration due to the extended weather exposure. It is also utilizes outdated plastic block letters that require manual insertion into a changeable signboard. Recent advancements in signage technology offer superior image resolution, enhanced graphic capabilities, and features such as wireless connectivity. These improvements would provide for more efficient use of staff time and allow for dynamic messaging and better support the diverse range of activities and events hosted at Lomita Park.
DISCUSSION
Staff solicited bids from several qualified vendors to replace the monument sign. After thorough evaluation of pricing, design quality, and vendor experience, Signery, a locally based company in San Pedro with numerous successful installations in the region, was selected as the recommended vendor. The proposals offer the best combination of product quality, technological advancement, and competitive pricing.
