RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LONG BEACH AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES TO SUBMIT GENERAL PLAN
AND ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS, AS NECESSARY, TO
ENSURE INTERNAL CONSISTENY BETWEEN THE
ADOPTED 2021-2029 HOUSING ELEMENT OF THE
GENERAL PLAN AND THE ADOPTED LOCAL COASTAL
PROGRAM TO THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION,
TOGETHER WITH ALL RELEVANT SUPPORTING
MATERIALS, FOR THE COASTAL COMMISSION'S
REVIEW, APPROVAL, AND CERTIFICATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF PUBLIC
RESOURCES CODE SECTION 30514 IN ORDER TO
OBTAIN A FINDING OF CONFORMANCE WITH THE CITY'S
CERTIFIED LOCAL COASTAL PROGRAM
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2022, the City Council adopted a Resolution Approving the 2021-2029 Housing Element of the General Plan of the City of Long Beach ("Housing Element");
WHEREAS, it is the des ire of the City Council to submit General Plan and ordinance amendments, as necessary, to ensure internal consistency between the adopted 2021-2029 Housing Element of the General Plan and the adopted Local Coastal Program to the California Coastal Commission for its review and certification in accordance with Public Resources Code Section 30514 to ensure that said Housing Element is consistent with the City's certified Local Coastal Program and that it will l be carried out in a manner fully consistent with the provisions of the California Coastal Act.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Long Beach resolves as follows:
Section 1. The Director of Developm ent Services of the City of Long Beach is hereby authorized to and shall submit to the California Coastal Commission a certified copy of any General Plan and Ordinance amendments necessary to ensure consistency between the City's adopted 2021-2029 Housing Element and the Local Coastal Program that directly affect land use matters in the California Coastal Zone, together with all appropriate supporting materials, with a request for the Coastal Commission's earliest review and action to obtain a finding of conformance with the City’s certified Local Coastal Program and is approved and certified as an amendment to the City's Local Coastal Program that will take effect automatically upon Coastal Commission approval pursuant to the Public Resources Code.
Section 2. This resolution shall ta ke effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the City Clerk shall certify the vote adopting this resolution. //
