Dear Ms. Camerino:
My name is Summer Etter, and I am writing to you on behalf of The Bamboo Club. Jim Ritson, one of the owners, has an exemplary record in the music and entertainment community. I support the approval for entertainment in The Bamboo Club.
I moved to Long Beach nine years ago, specifically to be part of the eclectic blend of entertainment that I found and loved along 4th Street. Since moving to the Retro Row area, I became a local supporter of the live music scene. That is where I first met Jim Ritson, now proprietor of The Bamboo Club. He has always been friendly, honorable, and professional in his business dealings, and he has earned the high regard of musicians and artists throughout the community.
I highly recommend approval of the entertainment license. The Bamboo Club is a well-run venue run by respectable owners, and it has put Long Beach on the map as a destination for tiki art and culture. It has brought business, music, art, and employment to the community.
Best regards,
Summer Etter

Good evening. My name is Danielle Geye. I am proud to be here on behalf of my friend, Jim Ritson and his business partners in support their business, Bamboo Club, obtaining an entertainment license.
I am born and raised in Long Beach. I am a small business owner myself. My sister and I, both attorneys, founded our law firm about 13 years ago. We serve local families and business owners.
In thinking about what I wanted to say here tonight, this hat quickly came to mind. This past Saturday, my husband (who was not born in Long Beach but fell in love with it as much as he fell in love with me) and I were celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary at our favorite place Nick’s on 2nd. After dinner, we were walking and looking in the shops and I saw this hat right away. Long Beach vs. Everybody. I love it. People who are born here, people who are raised here, people who end up here are proud of our city. But why?
I am proud of the diversity of our city. I’m proud of the opportunity there is in this “little big city” and the support the residents have for one another. I’m proud of this collective feeling of Long Beach vs. Everybody. To me, the heart of the collective long beach pride is our music and art. When I say I am proud to be from Long Beach, I mean I am proud to be part of a town that has a place for musicians and artists and holds them up and fosters and grows that culture. We get to say we are from Long Beach and that pride is from our music.
Jim Ritson has supported local musicians and artists for many many years offering a unique venue at 4th Street Vine. He gave a home to local musicians and artists but also welcomed touring musicians and artists—he has been instrumental in keeping Long Beach on the map for great music. Our music and art culture should not be cut off or limited. It should be nurtured and Jim Ritson is the one to do it based on the passion he has for music and the connections he has worked hard to make. If granted an entertainment license we can rest assured that our pride in Long Beach will continue to grow. On top of that, Jim Ritson is a conscientious business owner and a dependable friend.
I have 3 young sons, 7, 10, and 12. I hope that they grow up proud to be from Long Beach. Its Long Beach vs. Everybody! Our Long Beach depends on us to keep Long Beach something to be proud of. This will only happen if we help our business owners support our music.
Please vote to approve their application for an entertainment license.

Attention Long Beach City Council,
I, London Guzman, am writing you to let you know of my support for the entertainment license for The Bamboo Club. I have been supporting the business since their initial opening and believe them to be very responsible business owners and operators. They strongly believe the value of art and music in the community and even supported me multiple times through my own endeavors. They also employ many friends of mine that are artists as well and that to me shows how locked into the community they are. I see bigger and better things for the Club and community once they have a full entertainment license.
Thank you

Hi Marla,
We wanted to reach out and give you a note in support of Jim Ritson and the Bamboo Club.
Jim has been a crucial in the support of local music as long as we’ve know him. He built a cultural institution with 4th Street Vine. Over the course of a decade he was able to turn a small wine bar into a place that was packed with local musicians and artists all sharing one common goal, community.
Music is what brings people together. It’s so important in this town. Jim has also been a responsible business owner and followed the rules when it came to noise complaints and city requirements.
We took over his previous business and the clientele here is nothing but positivity and smiles….and live music.
We are confidant that he will create another space that is all inclusive, safe, and vital to the the Long Beach community and its needs. Please consider giving Bamboo their entertainment license. It will absolutely make the city a better place to live and visit.
Thank you,
Emily & Dustin Lovelis

RE: Support for Entertainment Permit- The Bamboo Club, 3522 E. Anaheim St.
Dear Council Members,
This letter represents my support of the issuance of a Permit for Entertainment to Long Beach Tiki, LLC, The Bamboo Club, located at 3522 E. Anaheim St.
I have lived in Long Beach for over a decade and am very proud to call this city my home. I have watched the city grow in many ways but there is one area in particular that has been the most exciting. Many small businesses have sprouted in the city, particularly within the restaurant and bar scene. Before the Bamboo Club opened I knew it as the Liquid Lounge and then Tidal Bay. Neither was a place I frequented due to the negative atmosphere and unsavory clientele. It was not what I consider to be a safe nor enjoyable establishment. When the new owners took over and brought in a new concept there was an immediate shift for the better.
I have frequented The Bamboo Club regularly with groups of friends and even on my own. I have always felt welcomed and safe. I’ve enjoyed my time there in large groups mingling with other patrons and I’ve been able to sit at a patio table alone grading papers in the afternoons. The ownership and staff are consistently professional and attentive to the atmosphere and needs of not only the guests but the surrounding community as well.
Without a doubt, I support The Bamboo Club being granted a Permit for Entertainment.
It would allow the business to continue to foster a safe yet fun sense of community in our city.
Sincerely,
Chrissy Neilsen

Hello Marla,
My Husband, Travis Rich and I are writing to you in support of The Bamboo Club and their application for an entertainment use. We own 2 buildings on Loma behind the club and also operate our lighting business there.
In our experience, The Bamboo Club has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The owners have been responsible and we've not had any issues with the bar. We love live music and plan to frequent the club when they are able to move forward with entertainment.
The Bamboo Club has our full support!
All the best,

Dear Long Beach City Counsel:
The purpose of this note today is to make you aware of our love for the Bamboo Club located at 3522 E Anaheim st in The Zaferia district of Long Beach, CA. I have known the owners for many years. They have proven to be supporters of our Long Beach Community and responsible owner operators of the Bamboo Club, one of our favorite dining establishments in Long Beach. They all have roots in our Long beach community, and have children enrolled in Long Beach school district schools. They are family men, and highly trustworthy.
I wish to be an advocate for the bamboo club in their quest to obtain an entertainment license. I strongly believe that Bamboo club will make strong positive impacts on our community through giving local artists a platform to play in, as well as providing needed jobs for our community through the augmentation to their business this license will provide. I know that Long Beach has always taken pride in its cultural arts, especially music, and the Bamboo club would be front and center in the effort to support that aspect of Long Beach arts culture. I will look forward to seeing new and established acts playing at Bamboo club in the near future.
Thank you for the consideration,
Sincerely
Jon Rogan

Attention: Long Beach City Council
My name is Sophia Sandoval, resident of the 4th District (formerly the 3rd District), former owner of 4th Street Vine on 4th St. and current owner of 4th Street Vine at the Long Beach Airport. I have lived here in Long Beach for almost 15 years and am raising my family here. I am an active community member, business owner and mother.
My partner, Jim Ritson, ran all of the entertainment for us at 4th Street Vine during which time he was vigilante in the enforcement of the conditions we had attached to our permit to ensure a minimal impact on our neighbors. He curated a space for many artists here in the city to show and perform their work. Through this work 4th Street Vine also became a place that artists from all over the country and many other countries came to Long Beach to perform at. He has always been an active community member and supporter of the arts. These types of spaces are a necessary component in maintaining Long Beach as a relevant city for entertainment and the arts.
When he partnered with Brett and Erick to purchase Tidal Bay (formerly Liquid Lounge), they were aware that that location had become overwhelmed with crime and many neighborhood disturbances of different types. They immediately went to work changing the business model and actively removing all elements of crime. They were immediately successful with this effort and are an active part of the Zaferia business district's growth and development. The Bamboo Club is now a family restaurant and safe place for all. They turned a problem location into a community destination which also enjoys visitors from many far away locations. By adding entertainment to this location you can be assured that the owners and managers there will continue to keep this a business in the city that is a safe place while continuing to be a good neighbor.
Thank you for your consideration on this matter,
Sophia Sandoval

Dear Long Beach City Council,
I’m writing you today in support of The Bamboo Club receiving the entertainment license. As we all know, entertainment and tourism bring a lot to the city of Long Beach.
It brings revenue to local small businesses while also providing the artistic uniqueness of this city we all love. As a transplant, there’s just nowhere like Long Beach and it’s entertainment scene. I fell in love as a tourist. Beyond that, meeting such incredible artists/musicians and still watching it all go. My 95 year old grandfather came to see me and he said, “I see why you live here”. Art and Music are part of Long Beach.
As a employee in the service and entertainment industry, I can vouch for the Bamboo Club. I’ve worked for them and have worked with the owners in other venues in the past.
Responsible business owners who educate their staff on the importance of noise control and crowd control. Not to mention how many jobs it opens up to have entertainment.
Entertainment brings locals and tourists ensuring countless jobs stay. The Covid-19 pandemic ripped through all of our lives but it hit the service industry and entertainment industry tough. Entertainment at the Bamboo Club keeps those in the industry afloat.
I support the Bamboo Club be granted an entertainment license from the City of Long Beach.
Thank you for your time,
Chad Taulbee
