TIA of $15/sq. ft., nice.
This is for Office Space, right? Not housing... There's never been residential zoned housing off Douglas Drive...

But it must be said that is a pitiful amount, considering what the State of California knows about the... let's call it, local pressures, these structural drivers of such backlogs... in the City of Long Beach.

Dave Shukla [email protected] Oppose.
It's not the bid process.
It's not the the firm, necessarily, though not having an L.A. County firm is a clear miss.
There's a lot in this staff report, let alone the actual resolution, to unpack...
This should be a regular hearing item...

SAIGU/30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LOS
ANGELES RIOTS
Dave Shukla [email protected] April 26th, 1992... There was a riot in the streets tell me where were you...
May 31st, 2020 (?)
Didn't even rate in this town... Nationwide the public outcry over the murder of George Floyd was understandable, most peaceful, and frankly, paled in comparison to that national police riot fomented by the previous Administration days later for... wait for it... an upside down bible in a photo- op from a Church that had been gassed for just the occasion by William Barr and his jackbooted thuggies...
True story... that actually happened in this country less than 2 years ago...
Has the LBPD even attempted to find who clearly and intentionally committed arson on the corner of 7th and Pine, just so for the cameras, and just before the new construction adjacent was even brushed by the smoke?
It must be said, for all the money and tech and toys we throw at them, the problem isn't:
We need more police vs. We need less police
Or
More policing vs. "better" policing
It's something more

Kerry Chhay [email protected] 90813 As a resident of District 6 and speaking as an individual, I support this agenda item, but I would like to see more commitment from our leaders of District 6 to honor this important day of genocide remembrance with an event rather than a presentation. An event would be an appropriate setting of healing and engagement with our community members especially our elders who are not technologically savvy while facing language barriers at the same time. The elders require more hands on for their trauma. I would also like to see our representatives engage and invite all organizations, Khmer or not Khmer, that deal with Khmer community rather cherry picking their direct supporters. I hope to see improvements for next year as the District 6 was not as prepared for the Khmer New Year and Khmer genocide events this year. I felt my community was not represented in a professional and meaningful way that represents true unity. Thank you so much for your time.

This is a fossil fuel subsidy and it will directly contribute to climate change and a warming planet. In discussion about Community Choice solar, this Council claimed that $30,000 was an unacceptably high application cost.
Any yet, here you are authorizing $13 MILLION of public money for just 6 months of dirty fuel. With this vote, you're locking in carbon emissions and creating employment dependency on the fossil fuels industry. Long Beach must do more, faster to phase out fossil fuels and put a stop to these purchases.

Pete Marsh, CD2: Admirable/impt step toward Zero Waste. Dual use (organic waste & MSW) is a huge plus for operational efficiency. BUT:
fossil-powered trucks are wholly inconsistent with LB’s CAAP & w Mayor Garcia’s membership in Mayors for Electrification (M4E), Climate Mayors, Compact of Mayors, etc. M4E has an especially straightforward plan: as each fossil-powered machine reaches end of life, replace it with an electric machine. Any fossil machine we purchase from now on will become a stranded asset, unusable before the end of its design service life. Strongly consider deferring RotoPac purchase until electric drive is available. I know this means extending the life of existing older refuse trucks, which are becoming more expensive to maintain every day. But the industry is transforming rapidly, and that increased maintenance cost - even with dirtier criteria pollutant emissions - for a couple of years is far better than locking in another 1-2 decades of emissions w this purchase.
