Dear Council Members,
While I support this motion because I strongly believe in Project Homekey, I also want to express my disappointment that housing solutions are disproportionately concentrated in already-overcrowded and resource-constrained west and central Long Beach.
This Council should be a voice for equity and all neighborhoods must share responsibility for building housing solutions. That means East Long Beach needs to step up and participate in solutions, not simply force Districts 1, 6, 7, 8, and 9 to absorb all new developments and conversions.
