To: Long Beach City Council Members:
Please take into consideration and read into the public record my comments as they relate to the Parklet Program.
As a Long Beach resident since 1987 and a member of the community who supports local business I am in favor of extending the ability of restaurants to offer seating in their “parklet” areas. This outdoor dining space has offered an opportunity for restaurant businesses to help offset the cost of the challenges that they faced during indoor closures caused by Covid restrictions but also for residents who choose not to unmask indoors to be able to be out and about socializing and dining again as well as be able to continue to support local restaurant businesses. Ending the Parklet Program would only serve to encourage Long Beach residents to do business outside of Long Beach.
Additionally, as Covid numbers continue to rise we may again be faced with indoor mask restrictions further supporting continued outdoor seating availability.
Please give these comments serious consideration and vote to extend the Parklet Program.
